Historia
When therapist Jill Davent moved to the village of Carsely, Agatha Raisin was not a fan. Not only was this therapist romancing Agatha's ex-husband, she dug up details of Agatha's not-too-glamorous origins. Jill also counsels a woman, Gwen Simple, that Agatha firmly believes assisted her son in some grisly murders, although there is no proof. Not one to keep her feelings to herself, Agatha tells anyone who will listen that Jill is a charlatan and better off dead.

Not my favorite

The story was long and seemed cut up by all of the subplots about several suspects. The end was good up until the happily ever after paragraph. I was relieved when the murderer was found out after several false starts. I like the others I’ve

Not nearly so good as her coffee house series.
Revisado: 03-28-21
I was eager to listen to a new series by Cleo Coyle. I give all of her coffee house mysteries 5 stars. These “ Ghost” stories are limp by comparison.

For three years the starling lived with Mozart, influencing his work and serving as his companion, distraction, consolation, and muse.

What made the experience of listening to Louisiana Longshot the most enjoyable?
This is a comic mystery series which I enjoyed enormously from start to finish. I was sorry when it ended and hope the author will find a way to continue it.

Historia
Former English professor Cat Latimer is back in Colorado, hosting writers' retreats in the big blue Victorian she's inherited, much to her surprise, from none other than her carousing ex-husband. Now it's an authors' getaway, but Cat won't let anyone get away with murder. The bed-and-breakfast is open for business, and best-selling author Tom Cook is among its first guests. Cat doesn't know why he came all the way from New York, but she's glad to have him among the quirkier - and far less famous - attendees.

When 14-year-old Mattie Sullivan asks Spenser to look into her mother’s murder, he’s not completely convinced by her claim that the police investigation four years ago was botched. Mattie is gruff, street-smart, and wise beyond her years, left to care for her younger siblings and an alcoholic grandmother in a dilapidated apartment in South Boston. But her need for closure and her determination to make things right hit Spenser where he lives - they’re the very characteristics he abides by.

almost but not quite
Revisado: 06-18-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
There were a few places where it didn't quite sound like the Robert B Parker versions of Spenser. Those bothered me.
Would you recommend Robert B. Parker's Lullaby to your friends? Why or why not?
No. Not quite up to its predecessors, and my friends don't even like those...too formulaic and certainly elitist when it comes to Harvard.
What about Joe Mantegna’s performance did you like?
His narration helped it sound like the Spenser novels I'm used to.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No
Any additional comments?
I just listened to The Chaperone and would give it five stars. I'm recommending it to all of my friends.

Historia
Tender at the Bone is the story of a life determined, enhanced, and defined in equal measure by unforgettable people, the love of tales well-told, and a passion for food. In other words, the stuff of the best literature. The journey begins with Reichl's mother, the notorious food-poisoner known forevermore as the Queen of Mold, and moves on to the fabled Mrs. Peavey, one-time Baltimore socialite millionairess, and, for a brief but poignant moment, retained as Reichl's maid.

Fabulous for food lovers and cooks
Revisado: 03-12-12
Would you listen to Tender at the Bone again? Why?
Have already listened to it twice. I stayed up way too late two times because I couldn't stop listening. A friend who loves to cook and cooks superbly recommended it. I have since recommended it to six people.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Since it's a fictionalized autobiography, Ruth Reichl is the heart and soul of it, but I loved her first husband too.
Which character ??? as performed by Ruth Reichl ??? was your favorite?
Can't say.
