Historia
The galaxy is burning. With the Cielcin united under one banner, the Sollan Empire stands alone after the betrayal of the Commonwealth. The Prophet-King of the Cielcin has sent its armies to burn the worlds of men, and worse, there are rumors … whispers that Hadrian Marlowe is dead, killed in the fighting. But it is not so. Hadrian survived with the help of the witch, Valka, and together they escaped the net of the enemy having learned a terrible truth: the gods that the Cielcin worship are real and will not rest until the universe is dark and cold.

Best Book in the Series So Far
Revisado: 12-17-22
The maturity of Christopher Ruocchio’s world continues unabated as his mastery of his prose only increases. This book, coming on the tail of Kingdom’s of Darkness is the perfect completion of this stage in the life of Hadrian Marlowe. The audio, once again, read by Samuel Roukin brings each character to life in the vivid baritone of his performance. Come along dear listener, come along into the next act in the Sun Eater series.

Great finale

A wonderful end to the trilogy. Each character was so fully developed that it was impossible to not love them even as you hate them.

Historia
Sigrid Undset's Catherine of Siena is critically acclaimed as one of the best biographies of this well-known and amazing 14th-century saint. Known for her historical fiction, which won her the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928, Undset based this factual work on primary sources, her own experiences living in Italy, and her profound understanding of the human heart.

Powerful
Revisado: 04-11-22
Occasionally there are books that once read fix themselves firmly within the very soul of the reader. This is one such book. Read it and relish the prose, the narrative, the structure, and the pacing. The wisdom within the story is timeless and something to cherish. The story is powerful and painful. But perhaps it’s that very pain which provides the story with such power. To my mind, it is masterwork within the genera.

Historia
My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

A Bard walks into the wilderness
Revisado: 09-16-21
In this second day of the tale Rothfuss demonstrates that he can maintain the excellent prose that he revealed in his initial offering in this series. His creation of unique cultures, customs, lore, and even language is a credit to his broad creativity. The only stumbles, in my opinion, are that he lingers unnecessarily long on the youthful discovery of sexuality and an unbelievable cultural lacuna with respect to biology at one point. However, these do not overly take away from the total narrative and the reader is left with further questions to be answered, mysteries to be discovered, and hopes to be realized. Certain scenes are memorizing and many moments are so intense that pausing to exhale a breath unknowingly held becomes a frequent and necessary exercise.

Fantastic
Revisado: 07-20-21
This story is the best example of Esslemont’s writing to this point. The story is compelling and really interesting, particularly for readers of his Novels of the Malazan Empire and also Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen. The insights the reader gains into the deeper motivations and origins of key figures in the latter Malazan timeline is a welcome addition to the world these two authors have built.

Historia
After decades of internecine warfare, the tribes of the Tiste Edur have at last united under the Warlock King of the Hiroth. There is peace - but it has been exacted at a terrible price: a pact made with a hidden power whose motives are at best suspect, at worst, deadly. To the south, the expansionist kingdom of Lether, eager to fulfill its long-prophesized renaissance as an Empire reborn, has enslved all its less-civilized neighbors with rapacious hunger. All, that is, save one - the Tiste Edur. And it must be only a matter of time before they too fall.

Playful and serious
Revisado: 06-23-20
Erikson has written a masterpiece whereby he is able to combine whimsical character elements into a thoroughly serious and thought provoking narrative that does not diminish, but rather accentuates the gravity of that narrative, a true pleasure to read.
