Historia
John Comer kept a journal of the 25 missions he flew in 1943, when the casualty rate on his base was close to 80 percent. His book is handwritten history, recorded within hours after the battles occurred. Comer vividly creates his experiences as top-turret gunner/flight engineer in a B-17 squadron that was thrown against the best pilots the Luftwaffe could offer.

Another story of very brave men who were real heroes. Sad that so many had to die.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Was a good start to a series

Some of the characters were a bit shallow but I liked the enemy which was original. It is a space opera of suitable dimensions and hopefully will build up over the next books.

Historia
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Really liked the story's base ideas
Revisado: 09-25-15
I thought the approach for this story line was original and the technology believable based on the supposed age of the empire and diverse creatures. The restrictions were a good twist and characters well developed for the story. The sex parts were unnecessary to the story.

Historia
The Galactics arrived with their Battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined a vast Empire that spans the Milky Way. Our only worthwhile trade goods are our infamous mercenary legions, elite troops we sell to the highest alien bidder. In 2122 a lost colony expedition contacts Earth, surprising our government. Colonization is against Galactic Law, and Legion Varus is dispatched to the system to handle the situation. Earth gave them sealed orders, but Earth is 35 lightyears away.

Good action but far to much sex
Revisado: 09-25-15
I liked the base idea for this story and the plot twist on the technologies involved. The story flowed well from the first one. My main complaint is the continual sex aspect spoiling the story flow. It is unnecessary and really adds nothing to the story.

Historia
Over one million Americans have served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the past four years, but fewer than 500 from this group have earned a Silver Star, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, Distinguished Service Cross, or the Medal of Honor. Those who have been awarded these distinguished honors all demonstrated an extraordinary courage under fire in the worst of circumstances.

Certainly very brave people
Revisado: 06-22-15
Obviously this story is about some very, very brave people. My problem was it was like a long list. Each person's actions was fascinating and amazing but it was still a list. The author wanted this format but I think the book would have been better if the story linked the action between the people with other historical events rather than just dates. It is still worth listening too, for the bravery displayed.

Historia
Imagine how different your life would be if you could tell whether someone was lying or telling you the truth. Be it hiring a new employee, investing in a financial interest, speaking with your child about drugs, confronting your significant other about suspected infidelity, or even dating someone new, having the ability to unmask a lie can have far-reaching and even life-altering consequences. As former CIA officers, Philip Houston, Michael Floyd, and Susan Carnicero are among the world’s best at recognizing deceptive behavior.

Fascinating subject matter
Revisado: 08-06-12
What made the experience of listening to Spy the Lie the most enjoyable?
Fred Berman did a great job narrating. This book might have been a fact heavy product but was written in a way that made it very interesting the whole way through. Fred Berman added a life to the book with his reading and matched the story well to make it a really good experience.
What other book might you compare Spy the Lie to and why?
I have never read another similar book, it is very unique.
Have you listened to any of Fred Berman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first of Fred Berman's performances I have listened to but would definitely listen to him again.

Historia
This modern classic of military history has been called "one of the most important personal accounts of war that I have ever read" by distinguished historian John Keegan. Author E.B. Sledge served with the First Marine Division during World War II, and his first-hand narrative is unsurpassed in its sincerity. Sledge’s experience shows in this fascinating account of two of the most harrowing and pivotal island battles of the Pacific theater.

Revisado: 08-06-12
Where does With the Old Breed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is my first audio book and I enjoyed the experience.
What did you like best about this story?
The story is about one man and his experience.
Which character – as performed by George Wilson – was your favorite?
George Wilson did a great job for the entire book and I would listen to him again.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I do not tend to laugh or cry reading books but the story conveyed the feeling of despair and hopelessness that these soldiers must have felt in battle and it was really well done.
