Historia
A woman lies dead, shot and bleeding. Behind her body stands a large old manor house, her house, and now her son's. She ran the rural estate as a minor fiefdom, all had to subjugate themselves to her will, or they were put out of their homes and ejected from the community. Lady Compton was hated, nobody mourned her passing, but her murder brought suspicion and dismay to the closely allied village, and it brought the police into their midst.

Characters were stereotypes with little interest. Predictable storyline. I wasted a credit on this one.

Historia
A woman is found murdered in her bathtub, and the murder has been made to look like a suicide. But a strange symbol found at the crime scene leads the local police to call Commissaire Adamsberg and his team. When the symbol is found near the body of a second disguised suicide, a pattern begins to emerge: Both victims were part of a disastrous expedition to Iceland over 10 years ago where a group of tourists found themselves trapped on a deserted island.

Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

The plot was lacking in every way except “wokeness”
Revisado: 07-31-22
This was the least enjoyable of all his books I’ve read yet. The conclusion wasn’t tied to the story in a convincing way. Seemed like a clumsy attempt to jump on the woke bandwagon.

This was a surprise winner, but shouldn't have been since I love all of Charlaine Harris's books. The plot was twisty but solid. I really enjoyed the main character, Gunny Rose. I hope there will be follow on books with her again.

Not for the faint hearted
Revisado: 03-19-17
What disappointed you about Out?
A bit too dark for me. No character was admirable or even likeable.
What could Natsuo Kirino have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Less darkness.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Narration was good.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Out?
The ending scene between two main characters was over the top.
Any additional comments?
The storyline didn't hold together
