Historia
Sean Carroll, theoretical physicist and one of this world’s most celebrated writers on science, rewrites the history of 20th-century physics. Already hailed as a masterpiece, Something Deeply Hidden shows for the first time that facing up to the essential puzzle of quantum mechanics utterly transforms how we think about space and time. His reconciling of quantum mechanics with Einstein’s theory of relativity changes, well, everything. Most physicists haven’t even recognized the uncomfortable truth: Physics has been in crisis since 1927.

Complexity Vs. Probability
Revisado: 05-23-20
As the scientific community continues to discover amazing complexity at the micro and macro level, the issue that never seems to be addressed is that there is an inverse relationship between complexity and probability for the "by chance" natural causes view of origins. Any book on quantum mechanics that fails to recognize that the probability line was crossed some time ago is, at its core, dishonest. The search for truth is not about defending a position no matter how far fetched the explanations required. We are learning more and more about God's creation. That's great. The failure to acknowledge that chance is a woefully inadequate explanation is not so great.

Britt-Marie can't stand mess. She eats dinner at precisely the right time and starts her day at six in the morning because only lunatics wake up later than that. And she is not passive-aggressive. Not in the least. It's just that sometimes people interpret her helpful suggestions as criticisms, which is certainly not her intention. But at 63, Britt-Marie has had enough. She finally walks out on her loveless 40-year marriage and finds a job in the only place she can: Borg, a small, derelict town devastated by the financial crisis.

Great Start Fizzled
Revisado: 03-31-19
This book started out with an edge-of-your-seat beginning (that seemed like it could have been developed more), then jumped ahead twelve years with a disconnect that was frustrating. The largest section of the book was an uninteresting story of a romance with vague allusions to the initial events. The end seemed like the author had been told it was time to wrap it up in order to meet a deadline or she had simply lost interest. As a Christian, I got tired of the constant use of the Lord's name which seemed to be an awkward attempt to spice up the dialogue. It was not needed or helpful.

Did not like the weird ending.
Revisado: 06-24-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Listening to this book was interesting for the most part. I was looking forward to the ending. Suddenly everything changed dramatically with an ending that could not be foreseen at all. I am not a fan of this approach.

Historia
The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

Any additional comments?
We are told that solving crime has a lot of plodding work involved. This series of books gives us a day-by-day account of the step-by-step process that leads to solving a crime. Very interesting!

The client is frustrating at times. Some of the court dialogue is very good. The story is often quirky. Overall this is a good book for light listening -- just don't expect too much.

Felt Like the Author Got Tired
Revisado: 02-05-17
What did you love best about Write to Die?
The best part was the insight into courtroom strategies.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the book. The ending would not have been much more disappointing if the author had just stopped suddenly and wrote "The End."
What does Will Damron bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration was well done and easy to listen to.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not that kind of book.
Any additional comments?
This book revealed that Charles Rosenberg has the potential to be an outstanding writer of courtroom drama. The ending was kind of a "Hey, I'm the one and I give up" ending. I think the book is well worth the listen as it is. I just wish the ending had been as well done as the rest of the book.

Historia
"It doesn't take an Einstein to understand modern physics," says Professor Wolfson at the outset of these 24 lectures on what may be the most important subjects in the universe: relativity and quantum physics. Both have reputations for complexity. But the basic ideas behind them are, in fact, simple and comprehensible by anyone. These dynamic and illuminating lectures begin with a brief overview of theories of physical reality starting with Aristotle and culminating in Newtonian or "classical" physics.

Science for Non-Scientists
Revisado: 05-28-15
What made the experience of listening to Einstein's Relativity and the Quantum Revolution: Modern Physics for Non-Scientists, 2nd Edition the most enjoyable?
This professor seems to have a firm grasp of his subject, explains things well, and is easy to listen to overall. As a non-scientist, I cannot speak to the accuracy of the information, but as a source that can be checked out by other sources, I recommend this book.
What about Professor Richard Wolfson’s performance did you like?
Professor Wolfson has a very pleasant voice and speaks with enthusiasm that is infectious.
