This had potential but just really wasn’t for me, I can see why some people hype it up… but personally for me this story fell flat. It was like reading 2 completely different story genres and it didn’t quite work for me. The narrators were fantastic. But it was tragic and mismatched. Definitely something different though.

Setting the scene for the next book great introduction

This was a good introduction to this new series, I love that the character is a strong woman even if the constant hazing got a bit much, I was hoping for a bit more of a love hate vibe but this was developing slowly. I’ll get the next book and see where the story takes me. Some interesting characters I’m looking forward to some more world building and character development and more chemistry between her and any love interests. This book had some unexpected twists which was great not so predictable.

Supernatural Bully romance without the romance

This had so much potential but I’m just not into a whole book about unmotivated clueless victim mentality main female characters.

I think I could of loved this book if it wasn’t the whole book basically beating on the main leads and if they actually had some attitude. They went from street savvy to behaving like victims. The start of the book definitely drew me in and I liked their strong girl attitude.

May read others in the series but not sure if they’re more like this then no.

Intriguing start but very short with cliffhanger end.

Yes I liked this book, but no I won’t be continuing with this series. I love fantasy but there doesn’t seem to be much character development or world building. I do like the idea behind it and this author shows promise. I might try this author in future. It just felt short and unfinished and once the book starts to get a bit more of an in depth plot it abruptly ends. Not for me. The narration was good too.

Just read it or listen to it if you love fantasy and a strong woman

So refreshing for this genre, I loved every moment.

A balance of vulnerability with strength and some added gore and brutality.

The main character was very likeable. I’ll definitely try other books by this author.

The narrator was also brilliant.

Unpopular opinion

So this story definitely has so much potential, but firstly the narration... the main character’s voice was great, but the story stated that most of the other characters weren’t her ethnicity yet the narrator made them all sound similar to the main characters accent so didn’t match up with the storyline. Secondly I felt like the main character was whining and not a strong character so inherently I already disliked her personality... I stuck with the story to see if there would be an improvement and there was but not by much aside from the physical powers the personality didn’t develop much. This was recommended to me and I liked the main character being African American but I felt the story kept digressing to her race constantly and I feel some of that was great but too much just distracted from the story I wanted a supernatural story with a kick ass main female protagonist which is t really what I got. Maybe the harsh review is partly because I felt the story just didn’t live up to the hype. I would definitely try future books by this author and narrator just that this one didn’t do it for me.

Loved this fresh take

This series is already addictive, loved the female lead! Actually didn’t love the main guy but I know many people will. Kind of hope there’s a new love interest in future series.

I hope the character continues to grow and become less dependent.

Already purchased the next in the series.

Exciting start

So yes this is a trope that I love.

This was something a bit different. My only issues were I felt like it was too short and I have to wait for the next book which will only be on Kindle end of July.

I actually liked the narration, sure it’s hard to do multiple characters with a single section narrator but I think who did okay.

I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series and I hope she gets some revenge 9/10

Slow start but great beginning to a new series

I’m new to this narrator and found the start of the story a little off, in saying this I feel the narrator seemed to get into character really well as the story progressed. I’m so glad I persisted... the world building was really interesting, and the character development seems promising. I prefer audio books simply because I can be busy while listening to one so I look forward to listening to the next in the series once it’s available. I’m intrigued by some of the other characters and I was definitely left wanting more of this story. Well worth a listen if you enjoy this genre and has so much potential for further world building and side stories perhaps.

Couldn’t finish it

I recommend reading this on kindle instead, the narrator is a very odd choice for this book.

I’d like to give this more stars but unfortunately the narration was unbearable.
