Historia
On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to storm the US Capitol in attempts to overturn the presidential election. It was a betrayal of our Constitution, and one of the darkest days in recent history. Yet to former congressman Adam Kinzinger it was also the culmination of a cultural and political rupture he’d long seen coming. Constructive criticism from within the Republican Party was no longer enough. It was time to stand up, even if it meant betraying his own party.

Hope for the Future
Revisado: 12-07-23
Adam Kinzinger gives me hope for a return to the politics of sanity. The book is self revealing, courageous and often funny. America does have choices and Kinzinger offers us a path of moderation, courage and patriotism. Democrat or Republican means less and less to me and character and fairness more and more. Reading the book was great, listening to it is even better. Hope I someday get to check his name on a national platform ballot. Thank you, Adam for restoring my faith in good people of both parties.

Historia
In the New York Times bestseller Extraterrestrial, Avi Loeb, the longest serving Chair of Harvard’s Astronomy Department, presented a theory that shook the scientific community: our solar system, Loeb claimed, had likely been visited by a piece of advanced alien technology from a distant star. This provocative and persuasive argument opened millions of minds internationally to the vast possibilities of our universe and the existence of intelligent life beyond Earth.

Working at a dead-end retail job in the middle of nowhere can be hard. The long hours. The helpless customers. The enormous eldritch horror living deep below the building. As the only full-time employee at the 24 hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. But when he decides to start an online journal documenting the bizarre day-to-day occurrences, he unwittingly attracts the attention of much more than just a few conspiracy theorists.

Simultaneously Scary and Wickedly Hilarious
Revisado: 05-19-19
Don't know quite what genre this is, but five minutes in I was hooked. Delightfully funny and creepy at the same time. The narration is brilliant.Every character come through with a distinct flavor and flair. The plot is as improbable as they come, but the gas station and Jack, the damaged protagonist, were oddly believable in the hands of this author. If you like your humor dry and dark, your sci fi otherworldly and your main characters strangely endearing, this fits the bill. Best since American Elsewhere and Fourteen and the Fold. The writing is wild, but smart and stylish. Jack's relationship with his psychiatrist is funny in the extreme. I have not laughed so much while listening to a scary book in a long time....Please hurry with the next one.

Historia
Badly battered by an apocalyptic storm, the crew of the Arctic Promise find themselves in increasingly dire circumstances as they sail blindly into unfamiliar waters and an ominously thickening fog. Without functioning navigation or communication equipment, they are lost and completely alone. One by one, the men fall prey to a mysterious illness. Deckhand Noah Cabot is the only person unaffected by the strange force plaguing the ship and her crew, which does little to ease their growing distrust of him.

This is so well written, it's refreshing. Don't know anything about the author, but he's good. The narration is wonderful. Touching in parts, very scary in others. Human nature at its best and worst. Left me with some plot questions but that didn't seem to matter in the end. Wonderful look at the many facets of each life and the mystery of our existence. Going to go see if MacLeod has anything else out there.

The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

Great Fun Sci-Fi
Revisado: 09-13-16
This is my second Peter Clines book.I was worried that 14 would be sci-fi light. It sort of was, but it grew on me. This one did too. Great dialogue, likable characters and a fun sci-fi,with subtle humor and a dimension bending plot. The narrator is perfect. Thoroughly enjoyed them both. Keep them coming and I'll buy them.

Multi-dimensional adventure
Revisado: 07-09-16
I knew about the traveler from Taured incident before I ran across and listened to this book. I appreciate that the author created an intricate fictional backdrop for this intriguing little mystery from the past. The author did a great job portraying rational people confronted by unimaginable events. The changeling visitors, particularly the children, were very creepy and I read a great deal of horror and don't scare easily. Loved the mind bending aspects. The narrator wasn't quite suited to this story. She was a bit too professorial sounding for the book and spoke at too slow a pace. I respect how difficult narration is and think she would be great for non-fiction topics or more staid fiction. This is the first title by this author I have listened to, but now plan to listen to others. Overall, if you like fiction that crosses dimensional barriers and delivers an entertaining and scary story, I recommend this book.

Indeed, so does everyone else...until the Stone Man begins to walk, heading silently through the wall of the nearest building, flattening it, and killing several people inside as a result.

This one sat for a while - just seemed a silly premise. When I finally listed it was a wonderful surprise. Well written, beautifully narrated and actually very touching. A fascinating look at morality and personal courage. Great suspense too. My next credit will go to a Luke Smitherd book.

A quantum physicist shocks the world with a startling experiment, igniting a struggle between science and theology, free will and fate, and antagonizing forces not known to exist. Very intriguing concept
Revisado: 01-02-16
The double-slit, wave collapse thing is tough going for me. I kept listening anyway, despite some frustration at making sense out of all the elements of this story. One silly part though -among the many worker bee folk who cannot collapse the wave there are no scientists. Aren't they special? As a non-scientist, I am offended. In fact I am so offended I am going to listen to this darn book again, just for its mind bending qualities. The writing is good. The narrator does sound a bit mature for the part, but he's good at what he does.

Good Writing - Too Much Pontificating
Revisado: 01-02-16
Disjointed story of a screwed up family who resorts to a reality TV exorcism. The author has a talent for descriptive writing, which he could use better in a less contrived story. As for the afflicted Barrett family, is the teen's craziness really caused by her Dad's job loss and the strained marriage of her parents? Is she possessed? Is she just biochemically destined for madness? The author doesn't make a convincing case for why any of his fictional angst is happening. If exorcism was a poor parental decision, it was born of desperation. As for allowing it to be filmed; I can imagine a family driven to that by financial desperation, although the parents allowing the younger sister to witness it was a fictional stretch that made suspending disbelief very hard. And to defend the fictional parents a bit, psychiatry wasn't exactly curing the girl. The blogger sequences were awful and an obvious vehicle for the author's anti-religious rants. Technical point for the jejune blogger: No witches were burned in Salem, they were all hanged. There's just too much of a soapbox feel about this book. It's as if the author wants to draw readers in with the quandary of good and evil, God and the Devil, while trouncing those who keep an open mind about these mysteries.
