Never-ending trauma
Revisado: 01-25-25
The book makes it obvious in the first chapter what the end will be.... The rest is just trauma. It's a well written story but it feels like just hardship and suffering for the sake of sadness.

Historia
In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

The first half of this book should be required reading for every American.

I don’t agree with Liz Chaney on basically any policy position. She and I are at opposite ends of the ideological spectrum. But the amount of respect I have for her for being willing to stand for principles and democracy at a time when very few other Republicans were willing to do so, at the expense of her career, outweigh any dislike for her policies I have. Her story of how Donald Trump tried to seize power and overturn the results of a democratic election was riveting and terrifying and I can’t understand how anyone who knows about this event could be OK with him being our president again

Historia
In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box. But when the Eastwood sisters - James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna - join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement.

Great concept but not my favorite
Revisado: 12-01-24
This book had a wonderful promise and had a lot of potential, but I found the length of it, and the detail simply didn’t add to the plot. The characters also didn’t seem to have much development or growth. It felt fairly predictable. for a book that ended up being over 20 hours and length it simply wasn’t worth the investment.

Audiobook performance really made the book
Revisado: 06-08-24
The reader's performance brought so much richness and life to the story - a simple but lovely book!
