Good but not as good as the first two
Revisado: 03-19-25
I did enjoy this one but I think it’s the weakest of the series so far. Grimsby is just so so ignorant in this one and basically everything he did in this one was just thoughtless. Stumbling into rooms he shouldn’t be in, not drawing obvious connections. Not even wondering why a knife with his name on it is so important to the heist. Lying to mayflower. Honestly he was just so stupid in this one that it diminished the character for me. Which sucked because I liked his character and morality previously. I still like mayflower but grimsby really dropped in my mind. And I never really liked rayne anyways so her starting all this and using his guilt again is just par for the course.

Historia
Immortality sucks. Just ask Imogen Gray: Over two-hundred thousand years old and teetering on the edge of total insanity. Strong as a shifter, faster than a vampire, Imogen's walked the earth forever, always alone, never growing, never changing. Never learning, either. Her smart mouth and quick temper get her into trouble far too often. When that happens, she gets hurt—and it can take a long time to heal from severed limbs and disembowelment. She's so tired of it all.

Liked the first, hated the second
Revisado: 08-31-24
The first book in the series was okay, but I did take issue with an ancient immortal with the mentality of a victim. But I get it, she’s broken because of her immortality. The resolution of the plot in the second is so lame though. Hint, it’s not a big fight but it’s how kids end a fight.

But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. And in their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness. Now, he is going to prove that for him, there's no gray area between killing for a living-and killing to stay alive.

Exciting and engaging
Revisado: 01-08-24
I really liked this book, especially coming off of reading Patriot Games and finding that book to be incredibly boring. This book on the other hand is almost non stop action. Court is basically superhuman. Lloyd is a deranged psycho. Seeing Lloyd through multiple countries worth of hit men after court only to fail over and over is great.
Narration is very good as well, he does accents pretty well and you can usually tell who is talking due to the many different voices. Unlike some male readers he does a decent job with voicing women and children.
Overall loved it, would highly recommend.

Decent narration, but very boring and bloated
Revisado: 01-05-24
For a story that is advertised as a thriller, there is very few actual action scenes in the book. There are really only 4 short action sequences in the entire book and Jack Ryan is only involved in two of those. The rest is either boring family drama, Ryan reading documents, Ryan in the hospital, Ryan in class, or random side characters talking about how they don’t know anything.
I usually blitz through audiobooks in one or two days but this took me over a week to get through. Brick does well enough though his accents leave something to be desired.
All in all, I was very disappointed with this book and its unwarranted popularity. It’s a borefest.

Another great entry but…
Revisado: 01-04-23
This is another great entry to the series but it’s really getting to the point where these intelligence agencies are just as evil as scorpia in the way the use and manipulate a child over and over again with no time to breathe in between. Like I want him to go postal and just kill Blunt and most of the intelligence heads.

Those who follow the noble art of cultivation know that there's no place for evil in their craft. All that matters is reaching the Heavens, but to do that, one must unlock their Force. The Fallen Star Sect's expedition to the mysterious cave ended in tragedy. Hundreds of their most talented students lost their lives in the dark tunnels. No less horrible was the fate of those who had found themselves at the imperial palace at the time. Nobody could've predicted such a turn of events.

Good books, terrible people
Revisado: 10-21-22
Honestly, though these books are fun and the action is great, at least 90% of cultivators on Saha should be executed. They are batshit crazy evil bastards that somehow hold power in a world that should have destroyed itself centuries ago. How is there even civilization with these psychopaths running around with god powers and seemingly no laws whatsoever? I can’t root for anyone except for Kai and even Kai is kind of a crazy person who doesn’t really have any redeeming personality traits except for strength. He doesn’t really have a strong moral compass even before the cold void sapped him of his emotions. The whole “lay down and die with honor you piece for trash” thing that everyone seems to say when Kai meets them is honestly cliche at this point. It happens with literally everyone.

Zach grew in power and thrived in the post-Framework world. He became a respected leader, a shining example of what it meant to be good. But as the world ended, he had only one thought: to punish the monster that had killed the world long before the Framework ended it. Yet not even with his incredible power was he able to stand against the World Ender. His arrival in the new realty, the Infinite Realm, gives him the chance to grow stronger, to find the monster again-and make it pay.

Fun story and Ryun is great, but Zach sucks
Revisado: 07-20-22
There are a lot of different story threads in this story. Both Ryun and Zach, past and present, with a few other characters in the present insterpersed through. In the prologue Ryun is setup as the horrible monster who destroyed the world, but as the story proceeds I can’t help but to side with Ryun over Zach at every turn. Especially when the framework first hit, Zach is a self righteous and sanctimonious ass. When he finally gets to infinite realm, he becomes a law enforcer because he doesn’t want to have to make choices and just wants to follow orders, even if those orders are enforcing slavery in mines. And yet he still thinks he is good because Order above all. Ryun on the other hand sees injustice and acts on it, not turning a blind eye because entrenched power structures maintain a semblance of order through fear. He may have been a monster on earth but Zach was just as much as one, easily manipulated and hypocritical, and yet still viewing himself as a paragon who could do no wrong. It’s to the point where I was always tempted to skip his chapters.
Narration is great, I will likely pick up other audiobooks with the same narrator. He brings the characters to life.

Story is interesting, writing is garbage.
Revisado: 07-02-22
So the plot of the story is worth listening to, enough so that I kept reading despite how irritating all the shitty sound effects are. Every time someone moves quickly the writer just says “swish” without really describing anything. There was one time in a battle where there was literally a sentence like this: “Cut, Cut, Cut, Shing” and this happens all the dame time. The Hehehe laughing is just terrible too. I think it’s a combination of the narrator making high pitched laughs when people are supposed to be ominous, saying Hehehe rather than actually laughing, or just outright laziness on the part of the author. Almost no time is spent developing the characters outside the main character and the final battle of the second book comes out of no where with no lead up and the inclusion of tons of new names with no personality or history added to them that make them stand out from the crowd. Frankly, it’s a mess. I’m actually disciplined I went ahead and spent credits on the next two books because so don’t think I can tolerate another book so poorly written despite how interested I am in the story.

Fan of series, not the people in it
Revisado: 04-17-21
So I’ve liked all the books in the series so far but I’ve always been bothered by the twisted and broken “honor” of these people. 95% of the people are just plain evil. Most of the sacred valley should have just been left to their death and the restraint shown by the heroes is to the point that by not killing these obviously evil psychopaths I have to question their judgement. Heavens Glory and the Shi clan in particular should all be left to die.

Fun story and great addition (minus Tanya)
Revisado: 03-03-20
For the most part, I loved this addition to the story. Adding in AI to a traditionally supernatural story was a really interesting and fun touch and Declan is just the best. I will say though, over the last few books I've liked Tanya less and less. Like in a previous one where Chris showed up at a kids school to try to stop them from getting bullied and Tanya basically said "who cares, they don't matter". Now in this one she flat out ignores Declan's repeated warnings about the quantum project. I think she might be in danger of truly falling at some point.
Other than that, I see some people saying that the DxS relationship was forced but I actually liked it quite a lot. I never felt that Declan belonged with Caeco. I liked her, but she was way way too arrogant for him. Also, the fact that Caeco started crushing on a professor that almost had Declan beaten to death is a major strike against her judgement. I'm worried about a Caeco/AI fusion in the future where she becomes the ultimate terminator.
