really enjoyable romance

I don't read a lot of supernatural romance, but this one blended the supernatural elements with real life in a way that I really enjoyed. The narrator did a great job telling the story and differentiating between the characters.

Interesting story

I enjoyed the story and the growing relationship between the main characters. The narrator is not great, but listening at 1.5 speed put the narration into the "not bad" category. I love mm romance and apocalyptic fiction, and this is a fun combination of the two.

True to the title, a great redemption story

I haven’t read all of the Hidden Creek books but I remember Chad being a bad guy/troublemaker, and this book did a great job of showing who he was inside and drawing him into putting that into the world. I also really enjoyed Jasper. All around, this was a sweet, hot romance.

If you could sum up Outlander in three words, what would they be?
Sexy Scottish fantasy
Would you be willing to try another book from Diana Gabaldon? Why or why not?
Probably not. I don't have any issue with the erotica aspects of the book, but what I do mind is the massive homophobia. Main villain: bisexual rapist. Sort-of villain: interested in men and boys with no concern for consent. The moral seemed pretty clear that men who want to have sex with men are monsters, and that made me feel gross about listening after a while. I really would be interested in the rest of the series if I didn't feel so repulsed by the homophobia.
What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?
Everything. She does a wonderful job.

I got this book for free from Audible in a promotion earlier this year so they may have changed this since then, but the version I have is separated into chapters that appear to be where it was divided for CDs originally. So, the chapter breaks are in no way aligned with the actual chapters and sometimes happen in the middle of a sentence. This makes it difficult to find a stopping point.

Slow start but great narrator

I found myself drifting away from this through the first two thirds, and then it was frustrating to have no resolution whatsoever once I finally got into the story. Still, the book did its job of making me desperately want to listen to the next one, and I loved listening to Alan Cummings.
