Why do babies have lopsided smiles? Why are so many people's eyes misaligned? What started as a simple search to understand this phenomenon turned into a two-year quest that uncovered hidden links between our crooked faces and some of the most puzzling diseases of our time. Crooked methodically goes through the most recent scientific research and connects the dots from the outbreak of metallic medicine in 1800s England to the eruption of neurological and autoimmune disorders so many are suffering from today.

I don't know if everything is correct that the author suggests, but he doesn't claim that it is. The potential, however, is enormous. I used to be of above average health but have been suffering for years, especially the last few. I am going to suggest this book to my doctors and discuss the applications with them. It is well-written and performed - I don't remember the last time I was so engaged with a book of this length the entire time I was listening.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-09-23
I was excited about this book but couldn't make it through. Basically, I should have read the reviews before purchasing it. I also found out you can only return books you used a credit on, not ones you paid directly for, so I'm just deleting it from my library. I hate making negative comments, so go read the 1-3 stars already written - they're right.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 06-11-22
This is more a combination of biography and performance art; sometimes the music was so loud the words were hard to discern. I thought there would be more about his politics, policies, how he mended a broken system or something. He is an impressive man, but it seems that sometimes he made the divide even greater. But I wasn't there. I have an appreciation for what he and his family experienced, but I didn't come away feeling any more intelligent or hopeful.

This book can literally change your life
Revisado: 05-24-19
Martin Meadows makes his books short by leaving out the self-promotion and fluff which so many authors use to make their books longer to hopefully appear more valuable. I like it because I can listen to the entire book during a walk, which lets me get started sooner on applying what I learn!
I've read a number of his books, and received some for free in order to review them. I've always find so much value that I end up buying a copy so I have it readily available to highlight and make notes in the Kindle version, and/or to listen to in Audible (I receive them in other formats). Not only is this one not an exception, it exceeded my expectations!
There are a few simple principles discussed, with highlights at the end of each chapter. They way they're discussed makes them easy to apply in your life. They're not just for decluttering your home or making more money. Whether it is fitness, relationships, knowledge, or any other area of your life, listen to the book, put the principles into practice - even just one of them - and you'll find greater success in that area (and probably others).
After I finish this review I'll sit down with my family at dinner and talk about the ideas with my children, and when they're in bed I'll begin following through on the notes I took while listening. I'm excited because I already know some things I thought I was doing effectively, but they're about to become so much better!

How to have more (than just more) time
Revisado: 05-11-19
I'll start off by saying that this information is more than just "how to have more time." If everyone listened to and followed the principles, not only would they have more time, their lives and the world would be a much better place! While giving me tips to manage my time so my hours are more productive and I have more of them available to do things that I want to, Mr. Meadows shares a plethora of suggestions to improve knowledge, skills, health, confidence, self-esteem, finances, relationships, and more. He manages to do this in just a couple hours, leaving fluff and self-promotion to writers who think a book must be 8+ hours to be worthwhile. You might say the first step in helping his readers have more time is writing excellent books that don't take an entire day to listen to. I was given this book in order to listen and provide a review, but as I have done with all the Martin Meadows books I've reviewed, I enjoy it so much that I buy another copy in a different format. There are few other resources where for the price of a Big Mac you can get the tools to change your life!

One of the best business books I've ever read
Revisado: 08-06-18
I have just under 10 minutes to go in the book, so can't give away the ending :) "Building a Story Brand" has been a main reason I've gotten out and walked nearly every morning for the last month - the ideas and principles discussed are so exciting as I think about applying them to my business, and many other areas of life, that I look forward to walking (it's one of the few times during the day I can listen).
Donald Miller mentions his company's services a few times, but it fits within the discussion and he does not push it at all. I'm definitely going to join once I finish another program I just started (which I found via Ryan Levesque's book, "Ask.", also in my Audible account... this membership is much more expensive than expected! ;).
The principles about creating a story for your brand are simple, perceptive, and logical, yet I had never considered many of them. Donald Miller does a great job narrating the book for anyone, let alone an author reading his own material, and he walks you through the principles and steps at a manageable pace giving just enough detail and examples to give you the information you need and keep it entertaining, while not dragging on or getting boring.
If you are working on branding a company I definitely recommend this book. And another thing I like about it is you can use the principles for so many other areas of life from bedtime stories to social media to public presentations and more.
Not just one of my favorite business books, but this and Benjamin Hardy's "Willpower Doesn't Work" are my two favorite books this year!

Drawing on their own cross cultural experience in global mission, O'Brien and Richards show how better self-awareness and understanding of cultural differences in language, time, and social mores allow us to see the Bible in fresh and unexpected ways. Getting beyond our own cultural assumptions is increasingly important for being Christians in our interconnected and globalized world. Learn to read Scripture as a member of the global body of Christ.

High hopes not quite met
Revisado: 03-24-17
I admit I had high expectations when I got this book. I thought it would be examples of how the differences between word definitions, perspectives etc., in the East and the West limit our understanding of the Bible. To gain this clarity I have been interested in learning Hebrew and reading the Bible in that language. There was some of this in the book, but as it went on there entered more opinions, personal interpretation of scriptures, and the authors' views on the gospel than explaining differences in definitions and cultures. I wouldn't mind them spending a few hours telling me how people need to change if I were purchasing a self help book - I have plenty of those! That just isn't what I was looking for here. It still had some interesting information, but it could have been maybe half as long.

No nation can be greater than the strength of its individual homes or the virtue of its people. Sadly, many today would say ours is a nation in crisis. Families are splintering around us, our children are becoming alienated from their great cultural heritage, and our leaders seem increasingly out of touch. Yet, according to Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one cannot lose hope.

Let's neglect them no more
Revisado: 11-20-16
I was impressed from the beginning, as I listened to Mike Wallace share his Foreward. Listening to the book, I found myself feeling this is the way the world was meant to be! If everyone lived by these 10 virtues, if most of the world lived by these 10 virtues, if most of the world even lived by most of these virtues, it would heal lives, families, homes, communities, governments - just the idea of it made me decide to do better myself. I offer a friendly challenge that you invest in reading/listening to this book, choose at least one principle, apply it, and see if you don't experience increased fulfillment in your life.

Great information, disappointing approach
Revisado: 10-24-16
What other book might you compare The Solution to Social Anxiety: Break Free from the Shyness That Holds You Back to and why?
Anxiety for Dummies is the only other book I have listened to about anxiety. While it had some good information, "The Solution" was more informative and helpful.
Any additional comments?
I am able to speak in front of hundreds of people and am comfortable meeting strangers, so was not sure if this book would apply to the anxiety that has been creeping into my life the last couple of years. As I listened I was happy to find some great information and ideas which gave me confidence that anxiety is not going to overtake my life. I was disappointed, however, to hear that even an articulate, knowledgeable doctor apparently does not feel he can communicate his message effectively unless he uses graphic language. It is not replete throughout the book, just a few zingers in there to make sure you are awake, and to embarrass you if listening with a group. I was going to drop two stars for it, but was afraid people might judge me too harshly...
