Beware before you buy
Revisado: 03-18-25
I stopped reading a little bit past midpoint. I was just enjoying the story like all typical LTRPG's their really wasn't anything surprising. But somewhere along the story the author felt he needed to add a gay couple. Now that shouldn't ruin the story, but I would like it if they said in the preview their might be some LBGTQ stuff in here. Just like Born to fight Monsters I didn't understand the gay concepts that needed to be added into a science fiction story if it wasn't part of it. If they just want to justify it that's fine but I didn't see where it added to the story. Now If my review doesn't get posted I'll understand why. Which is fine. It just means I'll stop my subscription due to Audible bias against free speech. If the author wants to justify the need for LGBTQ then the company needs to let the buyer understand that it might be included. Their are genres for that and if that's what I want to read I'll go read it. I just don't appreciate a no heads up about it. Plus because I bought this audible I can't even return it.

I know everyone just say it's a great book or it isn't. I have to say whenever a book makes you mad because the next one isn't out usually follows the stereotype that it's a good book. Now that being said sometimes when the book continues past a certain number the books it become a little stale. This one after twelve books have kept itself very fresh. I've not been able to put it down and I'm really looking forward to the release of the next one.

I really hate myself right now
Revisado: 11-15-23
I've already paid for the series up to book 6 and It's physically painful to listen to this book right now. I'm about two hours away from the ending and I'm trying not to pull my hair out and throw my phone across the room at how stupid the story is heading. Please write a disclaimer on all audibles in the future if the book is more lgbtq then about sci fi or fantasy. Yes I know it's only a little bit of the book, but it really bother those of us who have no idea why it's in the story. Like it literally sound stupid in a fantasy setting to have lesbian love as a thing. I mean it might work in science fiction as a plot, but for fantasy I feel it makes no sense. Just like "He Who Fights Monsters" one minute your fighting monsters and the next it's about Lesbian love? Everyone wants to be woke but what does that have to do with fighting monsters. It's not even a good plot line. These authors just throw it in somewhere to be woke so they can say their inclusive. Just write your story for the LGBTQ community then and call it that. Don't call it Litrpg. That as stupid as starfield being inclusive but your in a space suit to no one cares what you are. And yes because I've already bought the next book I'm going to try and finish it just on principle.

Historia
Felix had risked everything to stop the threat of the Unending Maw. Except instead of death, he and his Companion Pit were transported to the deadly Void, a place far worse than the Foglands. The Maw is there with them, bonded somehow to Felix in a way none of them understand, but all of them hate. The three must navigate the desolate expanse of the dark Void, contending with voidbeasts, marauders, and the creeping influence of the Maw itself. It will take everything that Felix has—and more—merely to survive, let alone escape. All choices have consequences.

Revisado: 10-17-23
Stop splitting the story. I don't want to follow two different paths it makes no sense in a book. I hate books that does that. Just stay with the story. STOP going back and forth between different perspectives. In audible format it makes even less sense because listening to stories don't make sense when the story goes back and forth. One minute your listening to the main character and the next chapter it jumps to the side character. I didn't like that when Robert Jordan did that to his later books. Because every time authors throw in a new character out of nowhere it only confuses the reader. Please stop it. Defiance of the fall keeps side stories short that a least stays with the main story long enough for readers not to be lost.

Historia
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. Each team of crawlers is given a task: Find and capture six of these beasts.

I know lots of stories have things that are lost in translation. So I don’t always judge translated books the same. I appreciate the culture jokes the most. Because there’s nothing funnier than a Korean always making fun of the Japanese.

Worth the purchase
Revisado: 07-17-23
I love Xianxia novels. There usually a quick and straight to the point kind of book. This book had just a slight twist on the traditional plot. It was well done and made this book a good change in the traditional sense. The one point I loved about this book was that it stayed true to the story and didn't try going off on some tangent about political correctness or how racist people are. You had bad guys vs good guys that was it. No hypocrisy on it's ok to kill people because they don't think like you do. And non of that it's ok for my wife to leave me for another women, but we still all hang out because we're friends. That's really unrealistic. The writers in this genre are usually targeting men. That's it. Not trying to change the world. So why are their so many of these books talking about how bad men are and we all need to be ashamed of who we are. Buy this book it was a nice change Men did men things that was it. Plus Pavi Proczko is just a really good narrator. He made me want to listen to more books done by him.

Wonderful way of writing satire
Revisado: 06-25-23
I have been very disappointed in most of the modern science fiction/fantasy genera. To much political correctness or overly sensitive about what people's feelings are. Not many story cares about just a good story. I thought this book did an excellent job of insulting everyone without coming out and saying it to their face. Which is what a good satire should be. The narrator was amazing in doing everyone's voice. Just distinct enough to be different individuals and with enough personal touch to make the reader know who is who. Some of these audibles have narrators who just drone on in the same voice and I get confused on who's who after a while. Definitely worth the purchase I could not put this book down. I wanted to write this review in the hopes that good writers get noticed for a good job. And I don't feel bad for writers who go on a tangent and just stop making sense.
The books flows well and I stopped noticing the time. That to me is what makes a great book. Being lost for hours listening to a good story.
