Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. It's easily one of the greats! no b.s.!
Revisado: 04-23-23
This was such a treasured find. it is so hard to sift through all the garbage out there, hoping to find a gem. This is definitely one of them. Gritty, humorous and the characters all possess real-seeming personalities. The character story lines are a great mix of fanstasy like experiences, yet they possess the same flaws we all can relate to with the organic wit that doesn't feel over-worked or contrived. Have reread and re -listened to series and satellite books and every time, it feels like revisiting with a cherished friend. The only negative issue with this series is, of course, trying to find the next good read of equal quality.
The narrorator is also top quality. So many great stories are just destroyed by a bad narrorator. This guy really does a superb job of giving each character their unique voice pattern that makes it very obvious which character is speaking. He is just so much better than most . If you like abercrombie, game of thrones, blood song and still waiting for the 3rd book of Name of the Wind...you are fortunate to have found this...i 100% guarentee if you like your fantasy with grit and wit, you jave just found your new fav. series.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

why??
Revisado: 10-13-22
Rothfuss is riding the wave generated by the first two books. i think his lack of intestinal fortitude to deliver as promised the third installment of King Killer Chronicles. Or, his fear it will not live up to our expectations, or he is just lazy is why he dribbled out a storynso bad, even HE admitted it was garbage. Rothfuss has fallen ill to the same sickness as Martin, wrote something wonderful and either fears losing relevancy once final book is released, or really cant seem to capture that lightning in the bottle a 3rd time. Many authors have 7 plus novels in series and each one is great. Sloooooo silent things..very sadly falls way short of the hype.

Get rid of Orton!!!
Revisado: 05-26-20
loved the story , for the most part..sometimes the philosophy gets tedious to the point of distraction..but the narrator really blows the job of translating the proper emotion of characters, especially when yelling. Orton should watch a good movie with an evil, maniacal entity so he can learn what a pissed off Lord of War should sound like when he yells. Orton makes everyone who raises their voices sound like a little girl , asking a question with every utterance. Ugh

When will 3rd book be available?
Revisado: 10-20-19
Great story. The story stands out because it has what those great stories have that seperate them from the rest. The good stories suck you into the story and you dont think about the fact someone wrote it because you are too enthralled with the characters and action. When i read a story that struggles to catch my attention, and there are many out there, those are the ones i forget and never bother with any more in the series. The only downfall to this series is even though the third book is out there, it is not available on audible.

Historia
From his perspective in Renaissance Italy, Machiavelli's aim in this classic work was to resolve conflict with the ruling prince, Lorenzo de Medici. Machiavelli based his insights on the way people really are rather than an ideal of how they should be. This is the world's most famous master plan for seizing and holding power. Astonishing in its candor The Prince even today remains a disturbingly realistic and prophetic work on what it takes to be a prince, a king, or a president.

man,,if i had read this say, at 14-15yrz,of age., i would have been drunk and forgot the lesssons anyway..so..i guess ida reread it at 23..still drunk, but like driving, by than,i could function pretty well in many areas while hammerd.,so...i,would have probably, slowed down, sooner than idid...and i would have been a force to be reckoned with. yup..the prince is definitely getting forced on my children...all of them...make them work for that inheritance..ha no..but i believe it will help them if for nothing else to recognize the Machiavellian types out there and to fuck them first...if not able to avoid altogether. good, good life lessons for any calender year you may find yourself fortunate to have had this important tool find its way into your life. read it..use it...or roll over for your competitors, who most likely are!

had a hard time in many instances comprehending the narrartor. Hard to explain really but i will try. its as if he has chronic running nose and a sore throat. the first time i ordered this audiobook, i had to return it i just couldnt deal with the narrator's voice and style. i just sucked it up and purchased a second time after i relistened to the king of nothing series again...wanted more bad enough to grit my teeth and soldier on. Although somewhere around the point in which cleric surprises everyone i think i had managed to numb myself enough to really not notice enough to distract me from enjoying the story, so there is that. yes, great story, yes im buying the next one, no , good or bad, i wont be hatin on the poor mucus challenged narrarator.

Completely Satisfied
Revisado: 02-20-17
I bought this book based on a couple good reviews, and i was not disappointed. I really like his ability to give yoi character background as the action is happening simultaneously. He doesnt get bogged down on lengthy unnecessary detail. He gives you what you need to understand who the players are at the same time moving you at a refreshingly fast pace from scene to scene, character to character....too fast as it turns out because way to soon it was over and now i have to sadly wait for the next in series. If you like Abercrombie and Martin, you will definitely dig this!
