Historia
Everyone who lives at 23 Beulah Grove has a secret. If they didn't, they wouldn't be renting rooms in a dodgy old building for cash - no credit check, no lease. It's the kind of place you end up when you you've run out of other options. The six residents mostly keep to themselves, but one unbearably hot summer night, a terrible accident pushes them into an uneasy alliance. What they don't know is that one of them is a killer. He's already chosen his next victim, and he'll do anything to protect his secret.

Gross
Revisado: 03-22-23
The story was great. The characters well developed, it was different and interesting. I couldn't wait to see how it ended....
But I will never listen to anything else by this author. How absolutely disgusting and graphic can you get? Shock value? Why all the nasty, way too much detail, smut? I was so uncomfortable and I am no prude....
Just gross.
love Imogen church, but I was even disappointed in her for narrating that garbage.

To be fair purchased by accident, can't return
Revisado: 11-30-22
This was recommended to me by audible....not my style at all. I like psychological thrillers...this was gross and dirty and pointless, didn't finish. Couldn't return. Basically porn in book version. Since I paid cash and not credit, audible wouldn't allow me to return it. So for my $10.00 I will, at least, voice my opinion on these dark, graphic sex, pointless, depressing stories. The main character was not likable at all, the main story about how they met was cute but overshadowed by the forward\backward format (which I like, but not for a romance story)...blegh.
The narrator was great!!

That was rough
Revisado: 02-26-22
Slow start, but unpausable, once it got going. Language and gore warning! Very descriptive abuse and murder "scenes".
The story was very interesting, could have gone many ways, all the way through.
The poor narrator had to use so many accents, things got mixed up a few times, but overall pretty good performance!

wow
Revisado: 02-24-22
I have few words. That was possibly one of the best listening experiences I have had. The narration, the immersive experience, the format of the story. The story itself. I couldn't stop listening. I usually only listen in my car, but I carried my phone all over the house with me to hear this story in a day. Well done, all!

Could have been great
Revisado: 02-22-22
Fell very short of what was almost a fantastic experience...was so ready to recommend to everyone and find more like it, but then the story just completely fell apart. The immersive experience was very cool, the full cast and sound effects were fabulous! I thought it must be going somewhere but then it just fell into dark depressing depths. I am left with nothing to say about the story, no climax, no ending, no point.😕

It’s been almost two years since Effie’s beloved parents got divorced, destroying the image of the happy, loving childhood she thought she had. Since then, she’s become estranged from her father and embarked on a feud with his hot (and much younger) girlfriend, Krista. And now, more earth-shattering news: They’ve sold Greenoaks, the rambling Victorian country house Effie has always called home.

Huh?
Revisado: 01-31-22
I was disappointed every step of the way. Too many obvious legal issues. I kept thinking maybe the big twist was how all the loose ends would get tied up. The story could have been interesting if the author had spent a little time figuring out how quickly the law would catch up with the "bad guy" and worked around it, but it was just completely unbelievable. Liked the idea, wanted to like the book...boo. Plus, there was just no reason behind anything...
Side note, the graphic sex was unbearable, I have read hundreds of thrillers, this was totally unnecessary, it was like porn disguised as a mystery....
Wasted credit.

Revisado: 09-28-21
I love Liane Moriarty's stories. Her unique writing. Her characters. I want to meet this family. I want to sit at the table with them, haha! Of course, the narration is spot on. I could almost start this one over again and I just finished! I feel like if Marc Cherry and Liane Moriarty collaborated, a film version would be perfection! But please keep Nicole Kidman's hands off this one! 🙏 Highly recommend for the exciting unfolding of this story through multiple (and interesting!) points of view, humor, and suspense!

A little far fetched...

but, we listen to get away from reality, so it wasn't bad. Many complained about the narration in the reviews, I am pretty sensitive to narration, adjusting the speed can make a huge difference.
Couldn't stop listening once the ball got rolling....wow, what a story!
