Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Needs a different reader
Revisado: 06-20-24
Having visited Hawaii numerous times I’m always interested in stories of the islands, and I’ve always enjoyed books by both Crichton and Patterson. I watched an interview with Sherri Crichton and her story about how the book came to be, so I had high hopes for Eruption but this audio book just didn’t satisfy. The reading reminded me of some old radio show from the 1940s, and the atrocious pronunciation of Hawaiian words just proved too much for me. I had to quit after just a few chapters. I apparently held the book too long so wasn’t able to return it, so this month’s pick will remain unheard. I’ve got the book on reserve at the local library and I’ll go that route instead. I’m giving the story four stars because I still have hope for the book.

Great Story but Monotone Reading
Revisado: 10-19-23
This was an interesting story with an almost predictable ending. There were several twists and turns that kept things moving along very well. The narrator was very monotone in his reading and that resulted in my losing interest at times. Overall, good book and worth a listen.

A Mystery with a glimpse of our future!
Revisado: 08-15-22
I was grabbed right from the beginning of this book, and it held me in its grasp right up to the shocking finish! Is there projects out there that resemble Chrysalis being developed as we go through our everyday life? Lincoln Child has given life to a future that may or may not happen (though I’m leaning more towards it coming to fruition), and Johnathan McClain narrates a story that will keep you guessing what will happen next. I’m a fan of Child’s works, and Chrysalis stands strong as a prime example of his creative mind! I would love to see this made into a movie some day. I know movies never truly capture all that the book entails, but this would be an amazing showpiece to a director’s career if handled properly! The only question would be who could handle the role of Dr Jeremy Logan?

Historia
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.
