This is a beautifully written story of a young man who was abused by the culture of capitalism. He was a victim of one of the biggest medical scams in our country. It has a happy ending because he was finally able to rise above his tragic youth.

The thoughtfulness of this book

Although Obama wrote this book long ago, I really enjoyed the retrospective. I especially enjoyed hearing about his grandfather and the determination and intelligence his grandfather showed.

Addicting! Could not stop listening to the tale

I started listening to the Riyria chronicles in order, thinking I would listen to one book and move on. I became addicted- I listened to all the books in order one after the other. I loved the adventures, the well developed characters, the interweaves stories. These books are a great escape!

Fun short story

This is a fun short story. I listen to it before I read the Riyria Chronicles. It was better after I had listened to the chronicles and was More familiar with the characters.

Beautifully written story

This was a great book. Well the subject matter is very sad the beautiful way it is written, the incredible language, makes it very compelling. I could hardly stop listening. I was impressed with the way the author gave great depth to the characters, and how even simple things became wondrous in this book.

Good story, kept my interest

The 2nd half picked up and was more fun

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The way the spirits are interacted with. I felt some of the characters lacked depth --
I like the characters of her dragon series more.

What three words best describe Luke Daniels’s performance?

Good, nice voice. Had trouble at first understanding "Ghost Hound". Kept sounding like "Ghost Town" to me.

Lots of character build-up, not much action

What did you like best about Midnight Crossroad? What did you like least?

I am a huge fan of Charlaine Harris' "True Blood" series. I listened to this and felt that there was a significant investment in character and location development, but the story seems to roll out slowly. The narrator was very good - I thought she had the accents down and did a good job distinguishing the voices. But I kept waiting for something dramatic to happen...An okay story, but did not compell me to listen even after my drive was over (a really good audible will have me sitting in the driveway getting a few more minutes of story).

Would you be willing to try another book from Charlaine Harris? Why or why not?

Not really

What does Susan Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator was great. She seemed to have captured the accent and tone very well.

Did Midnight Crossroad inspire you to do anything?

Excellent character development. Not a story that compelled me to stay with the book, although I did listen to the whole book. It pick up in the last quarter.

Make a long drive more fun

THe main character is very enthusiastic and fun. Her adventures keep me interested over a long two day drive.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

I like fiction and this take me away from reality.

The author makes the situation believable with detail.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Nothing. This narrator is GREAT!
