A new memoir from Sunday Times and New York Times best-selling author Cathy Glass. When Cathy receives a call about a terminally ill widower terrified of leaving his son all alone in the world, she is wracked with sadness and indecision. Can she risk exposing her own young children to a little boy on the brink of bereavement? Eight-year-old Michael is part of a family of two, but with his beloved father given only months to live and his mother having died when he was a toddler, he could soon become an orphan.

Wonderful book.
Revisado: 07-16-15
Another great book. I have now read all of Cathy Glass' books and am looking forward to the one coming out in September. This story is slightly different from the others in that the little boy she fosters doesn't have the many emotional and behavior issues but this story is equally moving and touching.b I typically read he Audible versions so that I can clean and now and drive while listening.

The Sunday Times and New York Times best-selling author of Damaged tells the true story of Donna, who came into foster care aged 10, having been abused, victimised, and rejected by her family. Donna has been in foster care with her two young brothers for three weeks when she is abruptly moved to Cathy's. When Donna arrives she is silent, withdrawn, and walks with her shoulders hunched forward and her head down.

I love this one as it's clear that the effort Cathy put in with Donna paid off in the end. As with all of Cathy's books, she reminds that goodness, faith, trust, forgiveness and hard work pay off.

Particularly addicting.
Revisado: 05-01-15
This is a story about a foster child who suffered a more subtle but very damaging kind of abuse. As with all of Cathy's books, she has a way of creating a warm feeling especially in regard to healing, family life, forgiveness and domestic life. I enjoy hearing about how her children relate to one another, how she deals with difficult situations and I honestly feel a real kinship with her on many different levels. This book goes more into her personal life than the others and I found this very comforting as I've experienced similar things.

Historia
What could cause a mother to believe that giving away her newborn baby is her only option? Cathy Glass is about to find out. From author of Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller Damaged comes a harrowing and moving memoir about tiny Harrison, left in Cathy's care, and the potentially fatal family secret of his beginnings. When Cathy is first asked to foster one-day old Harrison her only concern is if she will remember how to look after a baby.

This is a very sweet story that shines light on what a foster carer can do - miracles! If it wasn't for Cathy's support and decision making, this story could've turned out differently. I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter.

Historia
In her new book, the Sunday Times and New York Times best-selling author of Damaged tells the story of the Dawn, a sweet and seemingly well-balanced girl whose outward appearance masks a traumatic childhood of suffering at the hands of the very people who should have cared for her. Dawn was the first girl Cathy Glass ever fostered. Sweet and seemingly well balanced girl, Dawn's outward appearance masked a traumatic childhood so awful, that even she could not remember it.

One of my favorites by Cathy Glass
Revisado: 03-27-15
I love all Cathy's books but this one is particularly interesting and sweet. I won't give anything away, but I learned a lot about self-harm and ways children blame themselves for traumas they experience and what can be the outcome of that. A very moving story.

Historia
From the author of Number One bestseller Damaged comes the poignant and shocking memoir of Cathy's recent relationship with Tayo, a young boy she fosters whose good behaviour and polite manners hide a terrible past. Tayo arrives at Cathy's with only the clothes he stands up in. He has been brought to her by the police, but he is calm, polite, and very well spoken, and not at all like the children she normally fosters. The social worker gives Cathy the forms which should contain Tayo's history, but apart from his name and age, it is blank.

Cathy's books have all become big favorites of mine but I like the heart warming nature of this one especially. She goes way back to cover all of the beginning of her daughter's life and I found this thorough and enjoyable.

I listened to this Audible version and I could barely do anything else until I was finished. It shines the light on a problem no one talks about as well as the power of fostering. I love Cathy's sweet parenting style.

With a career, a boyfriend, and a loving family, Piper Kerman barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money 10 years ago. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to 15 months at the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut, the well-heeled Smith College alumna is now inmate #11187-424 - one of the millions of women who disappear "down the rabbit hole" of the American penal system.

My daughter and I both couldn't stop listening
Revisado: 07-13-14
What made the experience of listening to Orange is the New Black the most enjoyable?
The writing is very good, I appreciated the way she described and seemed to love all the characters.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
She changed before our eyes, it seemed. She came into herself. She dealt with a really tough situation and she bonded with the ladies in prison. An honest account.
