A Sunset for the Dawn

I, like many others, anticipated this book for so long. Wanting to find out how Ms. Bishop would wrap up the saga of 'Witch'. She certainly pulled some stuff out of her literary hat. As there was a bit of a sneak preview to how the story ended, many readers went a bit ballistic and quite a few blogs indicated there would be many that refused to read it because of the twists and unexpected climax. I for one am too curious and was not let down by the anthology. I really enjoyed hearing all of the familiar characters and as usual, Mr. Sharian narrated the tales beautifully. We all would like to see happy endings for everyone in Askavi, but life and death happens and I can't really find fault with the way it finished. I will miss the characters gone, and if Anne decides to give us more Jewels, I'll be happy to continue listening as long as I'm entertained.

I Heart Dallas!

The 'In Death' series is definitely one of my favorites, greatly due to the wonderful narrative efforts of Susan Ericksen. She makes the characters jump off the page and straight into your head. I see very vividly - Eve, Peabody, Roarke, McNab and even the cat, in my mind when she's telling each story. Treachery in Death is no exception. J D changeed her M. O. a bit and gave us the villians right away. That was certainly a twist and added great depth to this installment. I love seeing Peabody grow and the familiar cast of characters are always great to come back to. This is one that shouldn't be missed. Looking forward to the next one already.

I am a fan of erotica and find that though there is an increased audio market for it, very few narrators give the stories the feel that the authors are trying to convey or do them justice. Most of them read too mechanically and you may as well listen to the history of paper making or something equally as mundane. Sometimes the male voices remind me of the text to speech function on my ereader. Not the case with Mr. LeGrande's narrative of the various stories in 'Boy Fun'. He is well versed in many accents and definitely brings the heat that these stories were meant to have. Doesn't come across as reading the stories as so many do. It helps that most of the stories are well written. I hope that Mr. LeGrande will narrate more in the future.

Dream Come True

I have been patiently awaiting the audio release of Dreams Made Flesh. Even though I've read the book, I looked forward to listening to the stories that tie the trilogy together. I'm very glad that Mr.Sherian reverted back to the voice we were used to hearing when he portrayed Jaenelle. In Tangled Webs he made her sound like Morgan - she had a Celtic lilt to her voice. Listening also helps me focus on parts that I somehow missed while reading. I love the worlds of Kaaleer, Ebon Askavi and the other realms and can't wait until Twilight's Dawn is released.

'Job' Well Done!

I am so grateful for Mr. Butcher and Mr. Marsters. I wanted to get the anthologies that contain the Dresden short stories, but did not necessarily want to listen to all of the stories written by other authors. I also couldn't imagine listening to any Dresden stories narrated by anyone other than James. This is a prayer answered. The stories are classic Harry and shed a lot of light on things just glimpsed in the series. My only negative is that I still have too long to wait for the next installment. Bravo!

Another Gem for Bishop

Revisado: 08-25-10

I loved this story, along with the other installments that came before it. It was great to read about Lucivar,
Jaenelle, Daemon Sadi and other familiar characters with a bit of a twist on the existing trilogy. The Spooky House idea was a great addition and added a bit of whimsy to the series. But I was also a bit confused, like another reviewer, as to why John Sherian made Jaenelle sound like one of her sister Queens, Morgan - with a Celtic accent. It kind of threw me everytime she spoke. It didn't detract from the story, but struck me as a bit strange. Can't wait for the next installment and I hope, Twilight Dawn and hope that Dreams Made Flesh will be available in audiobook form.

Enlightening

I originally saw this book in the Kindle bookstore and placed it on my wish list because the sample was very intriguing. When I saw it on Audible.com, I knew I would rather listen to it. I'm very glad I did. I have a Sociopath for a sibling and I've experienced many of the emotions expressed in this book - most of all self doubt. I found the examples frightening but insightful and her advice - right on the money. I'd already figured out several of her principles on my own, but was relieved to know that I was steering myself in the right direction. This work is highly recommended and not to be missed.

He Rocked My Stripy Socks!

I loved Blood Sucking Fiends and You Suck. Reading them was funny, listening to the brilliant narrative efforts of Susan Bennett, is downright side splitting. As I am one who can listen while she works, I should have thought better about playing Bite Me while I attempted to do so. I'm sure my co-workers thought I was having seizures while I tried to control my laughter. If there is anything funnier or more entertaining, I have yet to hear it. Without giving anything away, I will say that Mr. Moore is totally brilliant and that his sense of humor lends itself artfully to his work. Hearing is believing and I believe that to not give Bite Me a listen to would truly 'Suck and Bite'
