Time Travel Fun, Romance OK

Personal opinion is that I liked this more as time travel than as romance. It took longer than I'd *prefer* for there to be anything beyond physical attraction between the two. That being said, the time travel elements I thought were spot on and Mary Jane Wells is always a good time.

Charming story, narration not my cup of tea

First if you're wondering, not spicy at all. But highly enjoyable nonetheless. A sweet holiday romance. Narrator was great with character voices, but his narration inflection wasn't to my taste.

2 of 3 Stories were utterly lovely!

All stories were beautifully narrated, no faults there. Story #1 and #3 were everything you would want in a winter romance (Christmas only peripherally involved). Story #2 would likely have been a DNF for me if it were a full novel. Personal preference I think, I don't care for MR's style I expect. But the other stories were worth the slog! And I'll note that the secondary characters in Story 2 were fun.

Enjoyable and Sexy

This book could also be titled "Autistic Woman Has Sex," and sex is about 60% of the book. While sex is a key part of the development of the relationship and the scenes were well written and well performed, I admit there were one or two times I was waiting for the sex to end so we could get back to the plot. This is bc Hoang created two compelling characters here, and Stella herself provides such a freshness of perspective on falling in love. P.S. Why did I wait so long to read this book?!

Courtney Milan is a goddess. This story made me laugh, cry, and swoon. Absolutely sublime.

Not even Ms. Landor could save this - almost DNF

Warning: This isn't a romance, but a family story about a man figuring out his life. The love plot is wholly secondary. I've never done Balogh before, but if all her work is so redundant and long-winded I never will. If you have read the other Westcott novels, you'll enjoy listening to their plots being rehashed every few pages. If you need to hear a conversation three or even four times from different POVs to understand what's going on, then you'll love this one. Ms. Landor is, as always, sublime, but this novel was NOT. It was a complete slog, and though I made it through to the end, it never got better. I'm terribly disappointed because most historical romance readers swear by Balogh.

Almost didn't finish...

So Ashford McNab did a lovely job narrating. But the hero almost made me put down the book several times. I like Bowen, and I respect her for trying a more abrasive hero, but he really deserved a slap in the face. I dont care how tragic his backstory. He kept doing whatever the hell he wanted, disregarding the heroine's wishes, and was too possessive too early for my taste. But it's ok, bc he wasn't as big an asshole as the guy who tried to force his attentions on heroine, so I guess it's a great relationship. He does reform some, and is like walking sex, so there's that, but... He made me quite angry throughout. There are lots of lovely things, and the heroine is a BAMF (except when it comes to men) and does scold him constantly for being a patriarchal ass, they both have to give a but at the end which is nice, theres an A+ finale scene, but... I dunno, maybe I just fell in love with Alex Lavoie in Between the Devil and the Duke, and August lost out by comparison. I think I'll look at the whole series, bc I'm intrigued by Harland and Rose, but...

The best in the series!!!

I enjoyed the first two books, but this was my absolute favorite! I loved the heroine, was already besotted with the hero, and it was great fun to see (almost) all of the usual cast of Chegarre & Associates turn up in the course of the story. Love love love!

Cute but Repetitive

This is my first Maya Rodale, and it might be my last. This book could have been half the length if the narrator had cut out all the restating *in the exact same language* of the facts. It's not like the dramatics are rocket science, or that we're going to love sight of the situation. I swear if I heard the words "lowered bodice" one more time... This is sad bc it was a cute story with some fun side characters, a good setting, the newspaper scandal was a nice intrigue. Could have been an even better story with out all the repetition which was rather off-putting at times.

Why would you ever choose this narrator for a romance??

Her voice is too harsh. Romance needs to be smooth and sophisticated. NQs voice is better suited to a murder mystery. I love CM, and this voice managed to ruin her writing. It was truly stomach-turning at times. Don't do this to us, Audible.
