Historia
When two young lovers abscond from a Puritan colony, little do they know that their humble cabin in the woods will become the home of an extraordinary succession of human and nonhuman characters alike. An English soldier, destined for glory, abandons the battlefields of the New World to devote himself to growing apples. A pair of spinster twins navigate war and famine, envy and desire. A crime reporter unearths an ancient mass grave—only to discover that the earth refuse to give up their secrets.

I listened twice
Revisado: 01-17-24
it was very good. lots of details show up throught the book (like the Bible, the axe, etc) I wish I read this sooner. love it. however, one thing I can't figure out - if the yellow house was in Massachusetts (or even New Hampshire?), how did Mr. Osgood travel east to Albany with his regiment? maybe I missed something?

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

Worth the listen
Revisado: 04-10-18
At first the narrator's voice didnt seem to fit the book - she read very upbeat, matter of fact, and her voice is soothing, so I kept listening. The story kept pulling me in, because I was waiting to see what would happen next.... if anything would get resolved. I won't spoil it for you... but when I heard the narrator say "Laura & Emma was written by..." I couldn't believe the book was over! I am still thinking about the characters, even though we didn't get an in depth look at them... this seems more like real life with loose ends and all

Historia
I'll Take You There centers on Felix, a film scholar who runs a Monday night movie club in what was once a vaudeville theater. One evening, while setting up a film in the projectionist booth, he's confronted by the ghost of Lois Weber, a trailblazing motion picture director from Hollywood's silent film era. Lois invites Felix to revisit - and in some cases relive - scenes from his past as they are projected onto the cinema's big screen.

Great story packed with interesting and informative facts.
I've bookmarked a ton of passages that I want to learn more about.
I will keep this downloaded just to listen to the last few chapters again and again. Thanks for sharing this book with us Wally Lamb! And George Guidall has a wonderful voice - I listen to all of his books too. Definitely worth a credit!

Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

Wow!! - Fantastic!!!
Revisado: 09-22-16
love it!! I will listen again! This novel includes philosophy, history, spies, manners, emotions, along with a fun game (Zoot). Well written, several times I was holding my breath in suspense. Amor's descriptions are beautiful (just one example - the way he describes bees on the roof at night as inverse stars...) I highly recommend this book & the narrator is lovely to listen to - such a soothing melodic voice, seems like the count was the one telling the story! you will not be disappointed! :)

3.5 stars
Revisado: 08-18-16
3.5 stars - narrator was too slow had to speed up read & even then it was slow - (did they slow down the narrator to make the book seem longer?) - the book left some unexplained parts, shifted suddenly to a time frame weeks/months later. lots of holes in the narrative. would like to see a second book with more in depth characters - a second book with the same characters would be great, just more depth please :)

still waiting.....
Revisado: 05-18-16
I'm on chapter 20, still listening because the narrator is good and I'm still waiting to find out what the plot of the story is... well, maybe that's not fair - I'm just not invested in the characters, if J doesn't turn out to be a psychotic drug addict OR if C doesn't stop being a whiny girl & grow up ----- then? it feels like I'm reading a 16 year old's diary..... but worth a listen if you like diaries (& the narrator is good - the writing is good too, but I'm halfway through and still waiting for the meat of it.....)

Historia
When siblings Dan and Hayley Daley inherit their late grandmother's derelict Victorian farmhouse, it seems like a dream come true. All they have to do is fix the place up and sell it for a tidy profit! Except - as anyone who has renovated an old house knows - things are never that easy. The walls are rapidly crumbling around them, the architect is a certified lunatic, the budget is spiraling...and then there's the disturbingly intelligent cow to worry about.

was good book, funny enough, but...
Revisado: 05-12-16
based on other reviews, I was expecting to have at least a few gut busting laughs, and I only had a few chuckles.... I could see where the situations are funny, but maybe it's the narration? maybe it would be funnier if I read it or if it was a movie.... I'll try another book by the author (maybe it was the subject matter?)
