Never Disappoints

Fantasy is good for your mental health and to escape all the woes of the world. And Michael Sullivan is excellent. His characters are unique, interesting, and engaging. I'm impressed with the variety of plots and story lines he is able to make with the foundation of these 2 main characters. His books make driving to work a pleasure. It's just hard to turn Audible off and go to work. And Tim Gerard Reynolds is fantastic. He portrays so much with his voice.

Convoluted

Before Audible, I bought and read many of Val McDermid’s books. Thought I’d try one on Audible and was disappointed. Plot tended to convoluted but I stuck with it. I don’t remember all the political comments. The reason I like fiction is to avoid all the politics which have permeated everything. Comments added nothing to plot. Self-serving and unnecessary. This was a disappointment and my last VM book. I did enjoy the reader and her different styles/accents.

Pleasantly surprised

The story snd characters in the book were pleasantly surprising. Easy to listen to and kept you wanting to know the next twist and turn in the plot.

Interesting from historical standpoint

I enjoyed this book. Interesting how complex issues were solved in the past with limited resources and technology. My only negative about the book was that the author seemed to be fixated on how this woman was treated by history. That she was not recognized as well as her husband and so on. It was a different time. People want to judge everything by the standards today. Rather than just accept that things were different. And we have moved on in a different direction.

My first Nora Robert’s book. She has a knack for telling a story but it was hard to listen to in terms of being believable. Too much time on relationships.

Classic Follett

This is a good read. Great history about the times and about the Clipper. He spins a good story with multiple characters as always. It had more than his usual amount of sex which seemed overdone but otherwise, it was enjoyable.

Good info but Audible is not a good way to access it. Need a demonstration of what the positions are and need to see that rather than just hear it described.

Great Story

This was a great story. Hard to predict what will happen. The performance was outstanding. A real pleasure to listen to overall. Looked forward to being able to listen to this.

Made mistake of listening to the author at end

I don't know why people like to bring politics into everything. I would have rated book higher had I not listened to author's comments at the end. Apparently she is equating Nazi Germany to Donald Trump and his presidency.
Far be it from me to say anything good about either political party as they both are ruining the country while enriching themselves at our expense. But it seems Trump is more pro-Israel than other presidents. And listening to this book and all WWll books, when I hear how the Nazis took people's possessions for themselves, took away firearms, suppressed free speech, and basically were involved in acts of antiChristian behavior, my impression has always been if these Germans were transported through time to our current political environment, they would be Democrats.

Good information to use but......

Interesting information. Results of studies and so on. One big drawback that was as already mentioned repeatedly, the included PDF does not have the main thing you would like to take home from the book. Which are the recipes.
Great information. Not a good book for an audible. You need a hard copy.
