It’s for verb drills. Just annoying that chapters aren’t named by verb
Revisado: 12-29-23
It’s verb drills, repetition is key. You get plenty. You can pause and repeat as desired. My only real complaints are; 1. The chapters are not named by verb. It’s difficult navigate to find a verb you want to go back to. 2. (Not unique to this book) The accompanying PDF is poorly formatted. The needs to be more attention directed at the quality of the PDF and its on mobile devices.

Historia
In When McKinsey Comes to Town, two prizewinning investigative journalists have written a portrait of the company sharply at odds with its public image. Bogdanich and Forsythe have penetrated the veil of secrecy surrounding McKinsey by conducting hundreds of interviews, obtaining tens of thousands of revelatory documents, and following rule #1 of investigative reporting: Follow the money. When McKinsey Comes to Town is a a devastating portrait of a firm whose work has often made the world more unequal, more corrupt, and more dangerous.

One of the most significant books of our age
Revisado: 10-22-23
This is a must read for everyone in a decision making position, especially in governance.
How McKinsey still bags as many government contracts across the globe speaks to how broken capitalism is.
McKinsey has had a hand in many of the most egregious outcomes of capitalistic endeavors. Their schtick as becomes clear in this chronicle is either deny or half-heartedly apologize after the fact.
This book is an amazing piece of irrepressible investigative journalism. I’m stunned the authors were able to uncover so much

Hmmm: price was great for amount of content but …
Revisado: 08-10-21
I’m going to have to endure my way through it. After following all 3 of Paul Noble’s books, this is disappointing or not really suited to how i prefer to learn. Some issues:
1. I don’t like that some French words are introduced or used without first providing the English translation (chapter 1)
2. The big sell: you will hear something and repeat it 4 times (supposedly for it to stick) is a good idea but only if you use what pedagogues call “spacing”. Just repeating the same thing 4 times is dull to grating. I already want to scream the third time she makes you repeat it. It’s a recording, I can listen to it again or rewind if I really needed to repeat it 4 times sequentially. Paul Noble uses spacing smartly where repetitions are spaced out in the content.
3. At some point, Alexa is going to take over the reading of these things right … so i can pick a voice i prefer.
But there’s a lot of content so I’m going to will myself to trudge through it somehow. It might even sound better on a second read.

Historia
In 1961, Thomas Schelling's The Strategy of Conflict used game theory to radically reenvision the US-Soviet relationship and establish the basis of international relations for the rest of the Cold War. Now, Anne-Marie Slaughter - one of Foreign Policy's Top 100 Global Thinkers from 2009 to 2012, and the first woman to serve as director of the State Department Office of Policy Planning - applies network theory to develop a new set of strategies for the post-Cold War world.

I'm going to have to read this one; the reader's voice or reading just not for me.
