Wow... What a Story

Very rarely do you get a fantasy/sci fi that isn't rehashed beowulf story line or the old "dark side is taking over" story line. This is sort of a fantastic mix of "Oliver Twist" and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" in a setting reminiscent of Venice at it's peak, only with huge glass skyscrapers made by an alien race now long gone. It's funny, witty, thought provoking and extremely entertaining! I look forward to a sequel!

If it weren't for the pefect voice of Scott Brick, this story would put you to sleep. The technology is way out of date and the story sort of drags you through stuff already hashed out and improved on by Tom Clancy and other Submarine warfare writers. You have to look at tomorrow's world through yesderday's eyes. I'm pretty good at doing such things with most of Herbert's work, but this one is sort of too "old hat" to really get into.

30 Years War Era Fantasy

Technology equivalent to the Early to mid 1800's, and military cavalry of the same era, only with dream wandering shamanistic magic thrown in. Great story. I'm looking forward to the sequel. Narrator plays all characters excellently. Excellent recording quality.

Great story. Great science behind the science fiction - most of which is still not too dated to enjoy today. Though some of the 50's attitudes would grate against feminist beliefs today, but if read in a "Leave it to Beaver" mindset of that time, would still be enjoyable.
