Historia
Cassie Forrest isn't surprised to learn that the day she’s decided to get her life together is also the day the world ends. After all, she’s been on a self-imposed losing streak since her survivalist parents died: she’s stopped painting, broken off her engagement to Adrian and dated a real jerk. Rectifying her mistakes has to wait, however, because Cassie and her friends have just enough time to escape Brooklyn for her parents’ cabin before Bornavirus LX turns them into zombies, too.

Historia
Bestowed the forbidden Summer’s Kiss by the King of the Summer fae, Brighton Jussier is no longer just human. What she is, what she will become, no one knows for sure, but that isn’t her biggest concern at the moment. Now Caden, the King, refuses to let her go, even at the cost of his Court. When the doorway to the Otherworld is breached, both Brighton and Caden must do the unthinkable - not just to survive themselves, but also to save mankind from the evil that threatens the world.

May change after finishing but for now
Revisado: 08-30-24
The first two novellas in this trilogy were good. Brighton was so much more likable than Ivy in the original novels, Caden I really like because I do love a redemption arc, albeit that this is a tame one.
However, by this story, Brighton has just turned into the exact same character as Ivy. She is single handedly making decisions for everyone else without communicating with anyone based on what she thinks is best without talking to the people she claims to love. She spends a lot of time repetitively whining in her head and it’s very tiresome. She went from likable to an infuriating copy.
The narrator, who wasn’t great in the original novels, but not awful, did well in the first novella but now (and in book two) Brighton’s accent is gone. And she sounds exactly like Ivy. And sometimes Caden sounds British. And sometimes he does not. And sometimes that changes in one conversation.
I will finish it but only because I’ve listened to all the rest but so far not impressed at all.
It’s like the author got bored. Or lazy. Or both.

Historia
Ivy Morgan hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars. It's more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine...and it's coming between her and the man she's fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Boring and unlikable characters
Revisado: 08-25-24
I really dislike Ivy Morgan. Had I not been listening for free and somehow made it through the first two, i wouldn’t have finished. She is the most annoyed character, whiny, entitled, selfish, an awful friend. Don’t know why the people around her tolerate her. But there is no redemption. She just remains awful while everyone stays team Ivy.
The novela about Brighton is much better.
Definitely don’t spend actual money or credits on this.

Cold. Heartless. Deadly. Whispers of his name alone bring fear to fae and mortals alike. The Prince. There is nothing in the mortal world more dangerous than him. Haunted by a past he couldn’t control, all Caden desires is revenge against those who’d wronged him, trapping him in never-ending nightmare. And there is one person he knows can help him. Raised within the Order, Brighton Jussier knows just how dangerous the Prince is, reformed or not. She’d seen firsthand what atrocities he could be capable of. The last thing she wants to do is help him, but he leaves her little choice.

Better than it’s predecessor
Revisado: 08-25-24
Love Bri and Caden so much more than Ivy and Ren. Hate that they got three entire (long) books and these two just get novellas. Expected the ending but still wasn’t happy w it, Hoping it wraps up by the end of the novella trilogy.
But this one kept you much more interested that the original wicked series imo.

Wonderful conclusion, beautiful story
Revisado: 02-13-24
I loved these books. Pestilence was my favorite until we got to death and this one may have eclipsed it. The story was beautiful, the ending lovely, the character growth is well done, spice is good but it’s truly about the story. Definitely recommend.

DNF-spoilers
Revisado: 12-11-23
I made it to the third book, mostly because I was out of credits and had used my last one on this. No one is like able except for the vampire king of the city and he is hardly in it. The FMC is hypocritical, judgmental (especially for someone who endlessly bitches about being judged), unfriendly, and she makes awful choices. The MMC is an “alpha” type but not even done well. The relationship is toxic at best but you don’t even have the chemistry to get you past it. These characters would have more chemistry w a paper bag. Here is a sample of their relationship
Levvie-I’m reminded that he is a predator. I’m reminded I’m in the room with a predator (or some variation of this)
Garreth-do what I say or I’m going to arrest you and put you in jail
Levvie-you know you can’t keep threatening to jail me
Garreth-don’t keep doing things that make me want to put you in jail
Levvie-ooh a predator
Let’s have the most vanilla sex ever and then go judge my roommate some more for actually getting some
Over and over and over for three books
Then a bad guy. Okay he’s dead. Wait, he’s back. Okay he’s dead. Wait. He’s back.
Here’s some backstory. Whine whine. Backstory (same backstory) horrible not cute bantor, I’ll arrest you. Predator. Rinse. Repeat,
Do not waste your time. Only thing to root for is the bad guy to win and kill them all.

Some slight spoilers—-Main vampire male is a huge turn off
Revisado: 08-31-23
I have about an hour left to listen to and I’ll probably finish it to see how it ends, but not positive. I’ve read a lot of PR, and the alpha male is definitely a popular trope, but this main male character Liam is awful. Their relationship is nothing short of abusive. She doesn’t have to be physically hit to be in an abusive relationship. She tries to stand up for herself but all he does is “rub his erect cock” against her to get her to do what she wants. He literally says he has the right to order her around because the belong together. If she so much as talks to someone he is angry, if his friends make a joke, he is angry. It is infuriatingly unhealthy.
His friends are much more likable.
The MC, Sera, has some potential but doesn’t realize it, as she becomes more willing to give up what she wants for sex. She says she worries about her friends only to allow their memories be erased over and over and over again.

Over it I think -some spoilers!
Revisado: 06-28-23
Have listened to all of these just because the family and the sex (to start with) pulled me in, but I think I will stop. I won’t hear Josh’s story I guess. I don’t think I can hear/read about one more virginal twenty-something. Her personal misogyny is definitely creeping in too, I don’t know if it’s getting worse or if I’m just picking up on it more, but all the “man-hugs” “cry like a girl” “cry like a sissy” is just too much.
It would be nice to be able to have one of the ladies have had an actual past, one that she doesn’t apologize for! What do these men do, do to buysexuallyrepressedwomen.com
It’s all a little silly. It’s too bad.
Oh, and if you aren’t in the military, then you and your family aren’t worth very much either. Mo once dated a non-military artist. The shame! The horror! Good thing she kept herself pure and didn’t sleep w him. Give me a break

This is my favorite paranormal romance series. Have read it many times so started to listen to it also. Narrator does a good job. Main characters are great. The main character, Cat, takes a while to like, don’t give up on her. Bones is great from the start.
