Historia
Sacred Valley has been saved...at least, what’s left of it. With his home finally secure, Lindon delves deep into the ancient labyrinth, seeking long-lost Soulsmithing knowledge and the secret to destroying the Dreadgods. Monarchs plot against him and against each other, unaware of the threats gathering in realms beyond. Far above Lindon and the Monarchs and the Dreadgods, another war is waged. Suriel and the Abidan clash against the Mad King and his forces in a battle for the fate of many worlds. And if it is lost, Cradle will be destroyed.

this one was far superior to the previous chapter.
Revisado: 11-28-21
the previous chapter feels like maybe he was rushing to get out of the way so he could write this story. I look forward to seeing how it would conclude, although I got to say it seems like for a 12 hours not a whole lot happened. I will say also that these books suffer from the same problem that Dragon Ball has. Once you learn that there is a strata of existence far above your own it becomes less interesting to hear about Joe Blow trying to make some minor weapon or something.

This is what I've been waiting for?
Revisado: 10-29-21
This is a disappointment. I've enjoyed Stephen Baxter in the past. The time Odyssey stuff with Arthur C Clarke's were impressive and I was kind of hoping for lightning to strike twice. This story religious logs and drags on. I kept waiting for the climax and it just feels like it never comes. Also the choice of narrator was ill-advised. I'm sure she's fine and some other context but here she is just so banal and uninteresting. Monotone. She's like the female Wil Wheaton. I feel like she was hired for her identity and not her actual skill. And it's painful what a disappointment wasted a credit on this after waiting months in anticipation.

spoilers ahead don't read tell you are done
Revisado: 09-27-21
my God oh, nothing is more frustrating than a book with an unsatisfactory ending. let's be clear, this book is rare written fairly decently as far as being able to listen to it. I didn't get caught up being annoyed by the dialogue or the phrasing or anything like that so in that respect it's a perfectly serviceable Talent. The problem is I can't I can't here come the spoiler so I beg you I don't want to ruin it to you because it's a pretty big spoiler do not go any further until you've listened to this book!
so the big reveal is two-thirds of a damned book take place in virtual reality! None of it matters none of it was real. And so there's all this mystery about what happened to Earth what happened to Mars what happened to all remnants of humanity and it never gets answered. Never we never know what happens. the bookends open-ended with him and his cybernetic girlfriend Falling in Love. So all the adventures you thought he had? Didn't matter at all and even though it's not quite the same thing as he woke up and it was all a dream, and it ends very disappointingly. Now they say that men like concrete writing in women's enjoy the experience more oh, so it's possible this book might be more appealing to women as a dude and a cliched one I was very disappointed, and feeling very on accomplished by the ending. Maybe you'll have better luck God bless and good luck I got this because of the two-for-one sale. So I guess it was good enough to kill a whole day at work but I'm so glad I didn't spend real money on this

And some were like nothing anyone had ever dreamed up, even in their worst nightmares. Now, the luckiest Cits live in enclosed communities, behind walls that keep them safe from the hideous monsters fighting to break through.

Monotonous slow start
Revisado: 09-15-21
Back in the day Mercedes was up there is a title you could trust to write you a good story. Admittedly I haven't read every single thing by the author but I do have quite a few on my shelf. Nothing is more disappointing than when they decided to have one of the terrorist groups be called "Christ-ers" who nuked the East Coast.
What a dismal and disappointing choice to make. Too cowardly to call them jihadists decided to take the easy route and btch about Christians

holy cow, this is like something you get tricked into listening to. It is very self-indulgent and just had no entertainment value. This is definitely more popular with women who just want to hear people talking in the background.

Seriously abuses the hell out of this time skip th
Revisado: 09-10-21
I wrote a review after reading the first book about how I was frustrated with the time skipping, and this book doesn't help. Seriously if you're like me and you do things while you listen to books you don't always get every word but for god sakes I have no clue what's happening in what order. I thought I knew his situation okay the book starts off at the scribes him as a kid and then it gets too when he's older but somehow or another it's jumping back and forth between his time before and after becoming a certain title. And the problem is it's like I do I don't know what the hell the point is because you're like wait a second is this now or then what's the point. It's feels like a literary trick and I wish he'd stop I'm terrified to think what the third book is going to be like

Cradle series but moderately different
Revisado: 09-07-21
I just just finished doing the last nine books of cradle and I wanted something else and this seemed like a potentially good supplement.
First of all a lot of the same concept show up in this or at least a variation of it. For instance there are magical beings that when they die leave behind a Remnant even though they're not called that.
Secondly almost everyone in some way shape or form influences the world through magic. But this time instead of being some weird Shaolin meditation it's purely willpower and even people who don't have a natural ability towards using this madra can still affect items
My biggest complaint with this series is that if you're listening to it as an audiobook there are sometimes skips that happen. It's a cute literary device that will is using but it can get confusing if you're not paying close attention. Basically the story jumps back and forth from when he was a child to present-day captain Calder. That in itself isn't bad you know but it can sometimes happen a lot and if you don't notice the transition to the future or the past you don't realize what the heck is going on. Overall I'd say it's a slightly weaker series van the Cradle one but baldtrees a great narrator so I'm going to give it a chance

Wil Wheaton destroys this book
Revisado: 08-29-21
believe it or not I came to this book after reading his story about the Astrophage. I had heard of the movie The Martian and I knew that this book was the basis for that movie but I don't generally like non fantastic Science Fiction. it either needs robots or aliens or black holes or something interesting to get my attention.
but after finishing the other book and running through an entire run I was running short on things to listen to so I thought I would try this one. I seen the review section lots of people complain about Wil Wheaton oh, and that actually made me decide not to listen to it originally but I was driving home the other day and I'd forgotten that I downloaded this book so I started playing it realized it was Wil Wheaton, but since I was driving I didn't really have much choice but to start listening to it.
The plot for this is interesting; Andy Weir is a great writer who manages to be both informal and scientifically interesting at the same time.
I'm about a third of the way through it and fortunately I'm one of those people that can kind of get lost in the story and not really here the reader anymore, but anytime absolutely anytime there's anything that requires a change in emotion or even a different character Wil Wheaton fails to deliver. Every interjection every scream every grumble everything is with the same exact tone. When he switches between male characters they all sounded like when he switched to a woman, she sounded exactly like every other character.
I started the book so I'm going to finish it, but Wil Wheaton is absolute travesty and the only possible reason I can understand for picking him is because he has some cashet in the lonely basement-dwelling geek community.
they really should have picked a different person to read this story. Maybe they could get the guy from the last Andy we are book about traveling to another solar system to deal with a sun blocking microbe. Hell I would have been happy if they had Matt Damon read the damn thing. At least he's likable
