Historia
Robert Sapolsky’s Behave, his now classic account of why humans do good and why they do bad, pointed toward an unsettling conclusion: We may not grasp the precise marriage of nature and nurture that creates the physics and chemistry at the base of human behavior, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Now, in Determined, Sapolsky takes his argument all the way, mounting a brilliant (and in his inimitable way, delightful) full-frontal assault on the pleasant fantasy that there is some separate self telling our biology what to do.

I was really determined to let go of free will, and I did what I was supposed to.

Like a Japanese restaurant without sushi.

A story keeping you alert to the end. Unusual good dialogue. So many writers fails there! I loved that it stuck to one singular theme, without to much surroundings, descriptions or flashing topics semi-relevant to the core of the story.

A gonna be classic

What made the experience of listening to Birdy the most enjoyable?
A lovely simple, straightforward story without to much of romantic bullshit. Read with care and not to much emotional interpretation to it.

Patchwork
Revisado: 08-14-17
Not near her best book but still fascinating. Now more frustrating than before I feel the lack of continuity in her interwoven novellike stories. In Lucy Barton it was more fitting to the maincaracters identity. Now I feel it could be a deficiency in the author.

One of his best.
Revisado: 01-14-17
Philip Roth is kind of God or simply very good. GAD for sure. But no personality disorder! The toying around with identity is so clever throughout his career.1
