Awful
Revisado: 10-23-22
Do not buy this book.
The 3 pack a day narrator is so melodramatic it's nauseating.
It's hard to tell if the book is any good because of her.

Historia
The Early Middle Ages-the years from A.D. 650 to 1000-were crucial to Europe's future social and political development. These 24 lectures trace a journey from Scandinavia across northern and central Europe to the farthest reaches of the Byzantine and Islamic empires, providing an exciting new look an era often simply called the "Dark Ages."

Historia
The reign of Richard III, the last Yorkist king and the final monarch of the Plantagenet dynasty, marked a turning point in British history. But despite his lasting legacy, Richard only ruled as king for the final two years of his life. While much attention has been given to his short reign, Michael Hicks explores the whole of Richard's fascinating life and traces the unfolding of his character and career from his early years as the son of a duke to his violent death at the battle of Bosworth.

If you are interested in the detailed and dull minutia of Richard iii, then dive in. Otherwise, walk away. Could not even finish it and I love this type of history.

No. Just no.
Revisado: 01-04-22
Drawing on three sources from antiquity, Morris argues back and forth on every mundane detail for 18 hours and somehow makes The Norman Conquest boring! Only the last chapter showed a glimmer, siting a dream of Edward the Confessor. The entire book is summed up in that final chapter's pages.
Narration is stuccoed, making the dullness of the book unbearable.

Historia
Every morning and evening, Zoe Walker takes the same route to the train station, waits at a certain place on the platform, finds her favorite spot in the car, never suspecting that someone is watching her. It all starts with a classified ad. During her commute home one night, while glancing through her local paper, Zoe sees her own face staring back at her - a grainy photo along with a phone number and a listing for a website called FindTheOne.com.

Historia
Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

Why are you reading reviews when you could be listening to West Cork?
Revisado: 02-15-18
I am hooked on this auditory opium. I hit play, and all at once, I am curled up in a cozy pub on a blustery night with my two newest hippest mates, Jennifer and Sam. With whiskey warm voices, this tandem team lay The Murder all out and then build their findings up all around me: The lure of Ireland, a gentle lady's viscous murder, a family broken, a peaceful community stained by a murder most foul, and a psychopath so manipulative, evil and calculating that I loathe him more than Mrs. Danvers. He courts notoriety and revels in strife. But don't take my word for it. Or Sam's. Or Jennifer's. The people of West Cork, Sophie's family, even Sophie herself will tell you.
Ian and Jules have plenty to say too. Perhaps too much...
So stay your jammies, call in sick to work, put on some tea (make it Irish if you like) and grab the big biscuit box. You are going to West Cork!

Historia
After his first grisly crime, Harvey Louis Carignan beat a death sentence and continued to manipulate, rape, and bludgeon women to death - using want ads to lure his young female victims. And time after time, justice was thwarted by a killer whose twisted legal genius was matched only by his sick savagery. Here, complete with the testimony of women who suffered his unspeakable sexual abuses and barely escaped with their lives and of the police who at last put him behind bars, is one of the most shattering and thought-provoking true-crime stories of our time.

Historia
Vain and charismatic Walter Sickert made a name for himself as a painter in Victorian London. But the ghoulish nature of his art - as well as extensive evidence - points to another name, one that's left its bloody mark on the pages of history: Jack the Ripper. Cornwell has collected never-before-seen archival material - including a rare mortuary photo, personal correspondence and a will with a mysterious autopsy clause - and applied cutting-edge forensic science to open an old crime to new scrutiny.
