Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

This author is a racist and and unsympathetic
Revisado: 05-02-22
JD Vance tells an unsympathetic story of his childhood. His current political ads are horribly racist and unsympathetic to a “poor” family’s plight. He’s a disgusting user of the system who is unwilling to help those impoverished people he writes about. Seriously, a gross person.

Started out with a great premise but 4 hours into it, nothing had happened. The same soapbox speeches are soooo repetitive. Nothing happens!!!!

Historia
The end of the world? That's the stuff of Hollywood blockbusters and deep philosophical exercises in school. No need to sweat it. So when 16-year-old Tess's doomsday-dad builds a bomb shelter in their suburban backyard, everyone thinks he's gone crazy.... Until fire rains down from the sky, sinking whole cities into colossal craters and setting much of the world ablaze.

Interesting and intriguing story!
Revisado: 11-02-15
Would you listen to Anyone? again? Why?
I would listen to it again. It was interesting and kept my attention. I hope to read/listen to the sequel soon.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I liked Cole because he was funny and kept the story light at times.
What aspect of Elizabeth Phillips’s performance would you have changed?
She enunciated the letter "t" way too much. It got annoying after awhile.

The sequel you’ve been waiting for: the follow-up to the sensational number-one best seller The Devil Wears Prada. But she got there with the help of her rolodex - actually, the rolodex of Miranda Priestly, her former nightmare of a boss. As Andy's success grows, she realizes she'll soon have to face Miranda. Still, Andy can hardly anticipate the horrifying reality that’s approaching - a reversal so profound that she will be squarely in Miranda’s crosshairs once more.

Horrible sequel to Devil Wears Prada
Revisado: 06-14-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This book would have been ok if it had a storyline or suspense or anything! It was so boring.
What was most disappointing about Lauren Weisberger’s story?
There was a lack of storyline, follow through. Andy's character was annoying and whiny. I didn't feel bad for her but I felt horrible for her husband, Max. She was bratty and condescending. Storylines just fizzled out and I had to stop listening because it was so bad.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator could not have made this horrible book any better.
What character would you cut from Revenge Wears Prada?
Andy, Max....most of them

Too short for paying a credit or $10
Revisado: 01-18-13
What disappointed you about The Sweet Life, Episode 1?
I was disappointed that each part of this set was separate. You had to pay 1 credit for 2 and 1/2 hours. The three parts should be put together and that would equal your average audio book at 10-12 hours.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Ilyana Kadushin?
She was a fairly good narrator but I couldn't tell between the characters voices often.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It reminded me of my childhood, reading the Sweet Valley series

Jessica Darling is living the New York City dream, until her on-again/off-again boyfriend asks her to marry him. She now has a choice: abandon the life of late-night literary soirees, art openings, and downtown drunken karaoke to move back to New Jersey and be with the one man who's gripped her heart for years, or stick around and freelance for the obscure journal that can't even put a dent in her student loans.

This series is going downhill...fast. I also didn't care for the narrator in this book. She had a manly voice as compared to Charmed Thirds. I find the Jessica Darling character becoming whiny and annoying. Not so charming anymore.

And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. But, slowly, Mary's truths are failing her. She's learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power, and about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness.

Ok story, really terrible narrator
Revisado: 02-16-11
I am sorry to say but the narrator ruined this book for me. She paused at all the wrong times. She gave everyone weird accents because she couldn't change her voice. She was monotone. Some of the characters almost sounded mentally challenged because of the "voice" the narrator gave them. I almost stopped listening, but I was too committed at that point and wanted to know the ending.
