Historia
Moneyball reveals a quest for something as elusive as the Holy Grail, something that money apparently can't buy: the secret of success in baseball. The logical places to look would be the giant offices of major league teams and the dugouts. But the real jackpot is a cache of numbers collected over the years by a strange brotherhood of amateur baseball enthusiasts: software engineers, statisticians, Wall Street analysts, lawyers, and physics professors.

A Baseball Diamond in the Rough
Revisado: 09-09-24
Moneyball is a good read for sure. definitely above average and worth every penny. I enjoy the stories and the narrator is great. I have a few problems with it however. I didn’t enjoy the long chapters about statistics. They seemed to drag on forever. I also had a problem with the lack of intriguing stories which is what I was hoping it would be. Despite the lack of depth and the long paragraphs on statistics there is a reason this book is so popular. I give this book a 86.5 overall. I also recommend this to a die hard baseball fan in love with complex statistics. Even if you’re not that guy you might still find this book to be your best friend.

this book saved my marriage
Revisado: 07-25-24
Reading this particular novel during my formative years had a profound impact on my understanding of empathy and justice. Growing up in a community where diversity was not prominently discussed, my awareness of social injustices was limited. This novel, through the perspective of an innocent child, unveiled the stark realities of prejudice and the importance of standing up for what is right, even when faced with opposition. The story's central figure, with his unwavering moral compass, inspired me to critically evaluate my own values and actions, encouraging me to adopt a more conscientious approach to life.
Moreover, this novel instilled in me a deep appreciation for the transformative power of storytelling. The narrative’s ability to evoke strong emotions and provoke critical thought highlighted literature's potential to influence social consciousness and personal growth. This realization ignited my passion for reading and led me to pursue a degree in English literature. I began to seek out more books that challenged my perspectives and broadened my understanding of the world, realizing that each story holds the potential to change lives in profound ways.
The themes of courage and moral integrity depicted in the novel significantly influenced both my personal and professional life. Witnessing the protagonist’s dedication to justice and equality, even at great personal risk, motivated me to pursue a career in social work. I aspired to emulate the compassion and commitment to helping marginalized individuals that I saw in the story. In my professional endeavors, I strive to uphold principles of empathy, fairness, and resilience, constantly reminded of the lessons imparted by this powerful narrative.
Lastly, this novel instilled in me a lifelong commitment to combating injustice. Its portrayal of systemic inequality and its consequences made me acutely aware of the need to advocate for social change. It spurred me to become more involved in community activism and to use my voice and skills to support movements aimed at dismantling discrimination and promoting equality. In essence, this book did not merely change my perspective; it transformed my life's path, guiding me towards a more empathetic, informed, and action-oriented existence.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....
