I really wish the voice over talent read the story as if they were the characters not the way they read it which was like they were reading it me. it just didn't work in my opinion and I wish the story was a little better as well. it was just ok performance and ok story I guess

I'm glad I had the chance to experience this book and bring alot of her journey into my life and world going forward have my own Year of Yes. thank you for the book Shonda, from one lying, introverted, chubby black girl to another one former for the chubby of course 😉 😊.

The only thing that bothered me about Symone story is that when Jaylen was introduced the narrator barely changed her voice so I was like wait, is this the same story, sane characters, she was talking the way she talked with Symone and it just completely pulled me out of the story, there were moments where she changed her voice when doing the male characters but it wasn't consistent and it made the flow of the story off for me

not impressed at all with first story

The first story aggravated my soul, I only kept listening because I was hoping she would finally come to her senses, spoiler alert she didn't. I don't know why the writer made the character so weak and childish for a grown ass woman. Good D can only get a man so far, unless the female is desperate which I guess this character was ok with, the guy was a hot mess, he abused her, physically and mentally and she just continued to talk about how good the sex was. pathetic asf yet he shows her, pictures of her husband with another woman and she's crying and hates him even tho they have a child and history she was way harder on her ex than the man who repeatedly disrespected her. I can go on and on with how terrible this story was cause it was horrible.

narrator ok

I have the paperback of this book, I have loved this story for years once I saw it was available on here I quickly got it, the narrator was ok that's the only issue I had, I appreciate the attempt at different voices for each character but it was slightly weird I can't explain why lol. But she perfectly captured the sister's voice Gail who every time I heard I instantly disliked 🤣🤣 not sure if that was what she was going for but it worked either way. overall the story is always one I've loved. glad I found it just wish there could have been 2 actors one yo do the male roles especially since there were so many men in this story is the only issue I had.

I owned the paperback for years and read it multiple times, so the book has always been a favorite of mine and I was excited it was available on here for me to listen to, I wasn't a fan of the narrator it's always weird the actors the pick to do these narrations, I liked that she added the accents to the Latino characters but for me it still fell flat unfortunately. But because I love the story so much I was able to look past it.

I feel like I'm a mixture of all the Brown sisters I have a little of each of them in me and my personality. I'm more like half Dani half Eve. I really enjoyed this story so much because I've bounced around trying to find what makes my heart sing and finding it and falling in love. I loved Eve and Jacob's banter. The story is just so cute, I can't wait to re listen to all of them again. 💗

I absolutely enjoyed this book, the story was amazing, I loved the fact a character with a disability was in the for front and it was amazing. The only thing I couldn't stand was the narrator, her performance was ok when she was reading for Gigi and the other older characters but I didn't see Chloé as this voice it unfortunately sounded very aged so it took away from me seeing Chloe as a young in her early 30's women I had to remind myself that she wasn't 60+ years old because of the way the narrator sounded, I'm not sure if they wanted to make her sound fragile but it just came off as old lady. Sorry.
