Historia
Time was running out for Garion and his companions in their quest to recover Garion's infant son and heir. If they could not locate the Place Which Is No More, then Zandramas, the Child of Dark, would use Garion's son in a rite that would raise the Dark Prophecy to eternal domination over the universe. Only the Seeress of Kell could reveal the site of that mysterious place, and she could only do that once Garion and Polgara had fulfilled an ancient prophecy in the mountain fastness of the Seers.

Horrendous Narration
Revisado: 03-01-25
My favorite series ever, read by the most horrible narrator ever. I'm SO glad to see they've commissioned someone else to narrate it. The story is awesome, with rich characters. People who have read the books first can't stand Beierle's narration... tho newcomers to the series don't seem to mind him. For me, he sets my teeth on edge. He makes my hair hurt. I can't listen for more than a few minutes before turning it off in absolute disgust. My advice, don't get beierle's narration if you've got the choice... nails on a chalkboard sounds way better.

Best-selling authors David and Leigh Eddings welcome fans back to the time before The Belgariad and The Malloreon series. Join them as they chronicle that fateful conflict between two mortally opposed Destinies, in a monumental war of men and kings and gods.

Despise the narrator.
Revisado: 01-24-23
I Adore David Eddings; this series of 12 books in particular. All but "Polgara" were narrated by Beierle. Beierle is the worst narrator I could imagine for this series. His inability to pronounce "ch," his changing "r" for "l" and his pompus delivery of the light-hearted story drives me utterly insane. I purchased and listened to "Polgara" at least 5 times fighting the desperate longing to hear the rest of the series each time. I finally broke down (after my 2 year fight) and purchased this. I'm not happy. I'm not happy at all. From what I've seen of the reviews, people who've actually read the books hate this narrator, so I guess I'm not alone. I'd give my eye teeth for a different narrator.

Historia
When the world was young and Gods still walked among their mortal children, a headstrong orphan boy set out to explore the world. Thus began the extraordinary adventures that would mold that youthful vagabond into a man and the man into the finely honed instrument of Prophecy known to all the world as Belgarath the Sorcerer. Then came the dark day when the Dark God Torak split the world asunder, and the God Aldur and his disciples began their monumental labor to set Destiny aright.

The Best book I've read in a decade.
Revisado: 12-18-22
Articulate and powerful. Beautifully read by the author. Amazing in the clarity of thinking and awareness. This book clearly and simply illustrates a message that every person who lives in a democracy (the U.S.A. in particular) must take to heart if we want to keep it.
I saw the author on the late show with Stephen Colbert and purchased it immediately because of it. I'm not disappointed.
Thank you for sharing. I hope to be as courageous and strong as you. I wish you the very best in life.

Polgara is the epic culmination of a magnificent saga, and a fitting farewell to a world which, once experienced, will never be forgotten.
She soars above a world of warriors, kings, and priests. The daughter of Belgarath and the shape-shifter Poledra, she has fought wars, plotted palace coups, and worked her powerful magic for three thousand years. Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the saga that is the Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean cycles.

Historia
Dark psychology can be seen as the study of the human condition, in relation to the psychological nature of the different kinds of people who prey on others. The fact is that every single human being has the potential to victimize other people or other living creatures. However, due to social norms, the human conscience, and other factors, most humans tend to restrain their dark urges and to keep themselves from acting on every impulse that they have.

Illiterate Narrator
Revisado: 04-26-20
I'm going to take a stab and say the narrator is illiterate. The way he reads 2 or 3 words and then takes a break coupled with the way he pronounces a few of the more intellectual words certainly indicates illiteracy.
Either that or he learned to read from William Shatner.
I have it on 1.55x speed and it's still agony to listen.

Historia
In the latest installment of The Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice summons up dazzling worlds to bring us the story of Armand—eternally young, with the face of a Botticelli angel. We go with Armand across the centuries to the Kiev Rus of his boyhood - a ruined city under Mongol dominion—and to ancient Constantinople, where Tartar raiders sell him into slavery. And in a magnificent palazzo in the Venice of the Renaissance we see him emotionally and intellectually in thrall to the great vampire Marius.

I keep waiting for the good part...
Revisado: 03-24-19
...It keeps not coming.
The narrator has such a rich deep voice it's surprising how absolutely monotonous he is. The whole thing settles into this "then, and then, and then, and then" dreary narrative.
I can't honestly tell how much of that is the book's fault. Armand was always portrayed as a bit of a whining, sniveling character... now we have a whole book to verify it.
The abridged version could read:
David: "Why did you believe Lestat's tale?"
Armand: "Because I was raised and surrounded by religious zealots for 450 of the last 500 years."

Narrator gets worse over time
Revisado: 02-19-19
This book begins with the narrator voicing his characters in whines (the first one led up to it)... Most of his characters sound like morons who find the process of thinking impossible.
Be prepared to hear of "Griffendeh" students, "Slythering" students, and "Huff-il-pufff" students.
Dear Mr. Dale,
Punctuation and grammar is supposed to give you an idea how to read a sentence. A comma (,) suggests a pause. Thought you might want to know... in case you narrate any more books.
I'm having a Harry Potter marathon... but it's seriously getting annoying. I've already been heartbroken by the David Eddings narrator.
Still love the books. Now, if only I could read and drive at the same time, I'd be set.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Narrator - not so good
Revisado: 02-17-19
The narrator doesn't seem to read using the cues of punctuation. There were pauses where there really shouldn't be and sometimes no pauses where there needed to be. Also, the closer to the end, the more the narrator whined everyone's words.
A few of the narrator's pronunciations were a bit grating; like "griffinder," "voldemor," and "hhuff-il-pufff." However it was listenable.
Love, love, love the books!
