This whole series has been a joy to read. Plenty of action and talk of the Keys and seafood! What more could you want.

Looking forward to reading/listening to book 9 "Abducted in the Keys."

I have to state that this book was given to me for free in exchange for a review.
I always like to state that this does not impact my review or my opinion of the book. My reviews are honest and my own opinion of the story, performance, and overall thoughts on the book.

Now, onto the story. The author Austin does an amazing job of characters descriptors. This book is action packed, from start to finish. From terrorism to a militia, villains, and just all-around action.

The Orion Assignment is a well-told tale of danger, intrigue, capture, escape bullets and bombs -- it'll keep you biting your nails right to the end.

Narrator is very good.

The story is well told and characters are very believable. A very good read if you like romantic suspense.

The narrator uses a flat monotone and often seems to stumble over words in the script.

Recommend reading the book rather than listening to the audio book.

A very good telling of the problems confronting Israel's existence as a nation. Author has definitely done his research into the area and the attitudes of people on both sides of the problem.

The characters and plot are well developed and told at a very good pace.

Wife and I are big fans of Louis L'Amour and have read everything by him that we can get our hands own.

Read the print version of this story a long time ago and was glad to get an audiobook copy. The narration and discriptions in the audio version seem much more graphic than the printed copy.

Well worth the credit spent getting it.

A great western

This book is a western. A new western. Most of the westerns that I have read were either from the 50’s or written by Loius L’Amour. One thing that I really liked about this book was the dialog. There is a little profanity in the book. Not much, but a little. This makes it more realistic. I cannot image cowboys not cussing every once in a while. After all, no matter how hard we try, we all do it.

The sex scenes in the book are also well done. Not graphic but does make it clear that it did exist in the times and place.

As for the writing, I found it easy to read and an enjoyable storyline. The main character is not a superhero and has his faults. Yes, he is a quick draw, but he was a U.S. marshal, and I’m sure that they had to be pretty fast with a gun, or they wouldn’t last. The other characters in the book are well portrayed and made very real by Frank Kearney's narration.

The emotions that fly in "Once A Marshall" make the book more realistic than most westerns that I have read. I really enjoyed listening to the book.

This story is strong on character development and Nick Newell voiced these characters expertly and distinctively. Unfortunately, religion is just a little too in-your-face with some of these characters. Perhaps hikers, especially hikers familiar with the Appalachian Trail, might appreciate this story more, but for me, the story got bogged down in all the hikes and locations. The story did end with a satisfying conclusion.

Story lacked continuity making the plot difficult to follow.

Narration was OK but reader whined a lot. Don't know if she got that from the story or if it is just her style of reading.

Talks more about touring Bali and the 2 main characters attraction to each other than any mystery. I figured out the "mystery" in the 3rd chapter.

Narrator did decent job considering the material she had to work with.
