Historia
From the author of the global breakout bestseller The Last Love Note comes the story of a young woman struggling to piece her life back together in the wake of a tragic accident, and the man who gives up everything to help her. When Evie Hudson wakes in an unfamiliar hospital room, she thinks she’s fresh out of a teenage party with her best friend, Bree. Except, Bree isn’t around anymore and high school was years ago. Evie had just survived the crash that killed her husband, Oliver—whom she can't remember either.

There were good bones here but the many soap opera elements peppered into this novel turn it into a ridiculous read.

Historia
Miranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice, perfect comic timing, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy, and palpable delight in pushing boundaries, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman.

Can't with the narrator
Revisado: 04-14-25
Awful, difficult to hear, even on high volume and too flat. I get the author, who is the reader, believes since her deliver is dry it's humorous but no, not at all. Had to give up after chapter 2.

Historia
Who invented reality television, the world’s most dangerous pop-culture genre? And why can’t we look away? In this revelatory, deeply reported account of the rise of “dirty documentary”—from its contentious roots in radio to the ascent of Donald Trump—Emily Nussbaum unearths the origin story of the genre that ate the world, as told through the lively voices of the people who built it. At once gimlet-eyed and empathetic, Cue the Sun! explores the morally charged, funny, and sometimes tragic consequences of the hunt for something real inside something fake.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Great performances but characters aren't interesting
Revisado: 12-03-24
Read and heard so many great things about this book but the main protagonist was just overall unappealing, and not unappealing in the way that makes you want to know how they tick, but unappealing in a dull fashion so the fact that so many were attracted to her was a bit ridiculous. Additionally, the first half of the was suspenseful I was excited about the whodunnit but by the time the ending arrived it was lackluster. Wasn't a complete waste of time but definitely didn't live up to the hype.

Historia
Everyone knows the hits: "Mony Mony," "I Think We're Alone Now," "Crimson and Clover," "Crystal Blue Persuasion." They are nuggets of rock and pop history. However, few know the unlikely story of how these hits came to be. Tommy James had been performing in rock bands in the Michigan area since the age of 12. Prompted to record a few songs by a local disc jockey in 1964, Tommy chose an obscurity titled "Hanky Panky," which became a minor local hit that came and went.

Historia
With full cooperation from the late Gordon's family and based on his trademark extensive, detailed research, Joel Selvin’s account is at once an epic journey through an artist’s monumental musical contributions, a rollicking history of rock drumming, and a terrifying downward spiral into the unimaginable madness that Gordon fought a valiant but losing battle against. One of the great untold stories of rock is finally being told.

Wanted more from this book
Revisado: 03-06-24
I've read many rock bio's and music books. so much of the information about Jim Gordon's career I knew through reading other bios, books, etc and that is primarily what this book is about, therefore not new information to me. The difficult subject matter in this book is covered respectfully and somewhat briefly,
It's not a terrible book rather it was a bit uninteresting for me.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

Dull
Revisado: 02-21-24
The characters are unlikable, not evil, but unlikable in that the relationships don't make sense. Billy's boring, Daisy's a mess, Graham's spineless, Karen's aloof and Camila's perfect, perfect Mom, perfect friend, perfect wife and that she puts her own needs aside. Don't buy the love stories of any of the characters and don't buy all the emotion and anguish that's displayed when these characters are talking about their feelings for one another decades later! I also don't buy how they're so willing to divulge their secrets to the author of the book within a book.

Total F*cking Godhead is the complete story of the complex and enigmatic artist, Chris Cornell. It's the riveting account of a blue collar, high-school dropout emerging from Seattle, Washington, to become one of the greatest singer-songwriters and voices of his generation. With input from people who knew and worked with him - together with Cornell's own words - the book recounts in great detail the rise of his immortal band Soundgarden as they emerged from the 1980s post-punk underground to dominate popular culture in the '90s alongside other Seattle bands like Pearl Jam.
