Historia
Misanthropic psychologist Dr. Grace Park is placed on the Deucalion, a survey ship headed to an icy planet in an unexplored galaxy. Her purpose is to observe the thirteen human crew members aboard the ship - all specialists in their own fields - as they assess the colonization potential of the planet, Eos. But frictions develop as Park befriends the androids of the ship, preferring their company over the baffling complexity of humans, while the rest of the crew treats them with suspicion and even outright hostility.

The description was so good, the execution was not. Unlikeable characters, extreme and pointless repetition, terrible science, boring. So bad it made me angry.

This guided meditation for anger teaches listeners how to better respond to debilitating anger and blame by listening repeatedly to simple images and metaphors, such as envisioning the loosening of tight cords that have been wrapped around the heart, constricting its natural energy and flow. The wisdom of this guided meditation for anger is that it sidesteps those mind traps by working directly with body sensation and symbolic images.

There is nothing relaxing or helpful here; in fact it will make you more angry. The imagery section is so fraught with "you might be here, or you might be here or here or here ...maybe you hear this...or that, maybe you feel grass, or sand, or pine needles, or wind!" There is so much jumping around every 10 seconds you can't imagine that you are anywhere and can't relax at all. It's ridiculous, and Audible won't let me return it even though I would rather vomit than listen to any more of this clearly unprofessional product.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

good story crazy narration

odd to have different narration format seemingly at random. Sometimes Simon Vance does all the voices and sometimes Scott Brock and sometmes a cast dramatization. bizarre.

When spirited, independent Miss Annis Wynchwood embroils herself in the affairs of a runaway heiress, she is destined to see a good deal of Mr Carleton, Lucilla's uncivil and high-handed guardian. And, chafing at the restrictions of Bath society, Annis has to admit that at least Mr Oliver Carleton is never boring.

I can't finish this. I've enjoyed many a book by this author but this story is so trite and annoying. The narration although not horrible is so annoying for one particular character that it's impossible to listen without wanting to plug your ears

Historia
Following his mission on Cappa, Colonel Carl Butler returns to a mixed reception. To some, he is a do-or-die war hero. To the other half of the galaxy, he’s a pariah. Forced into retirement, he has resettled on Talca Four where he’s now Deputy VP of Corporate Security, protecting a high-tech military company on the corporate battlefield - at least, that’s what the job description says. Really, he’s just there to impress clients and investors. It’s all relatively low risk - until he’s entrusted with new orders.

I like this author and I'm eagerly awaiting book 3. I'll give the same review here that I gave for PlanetSide. The book is very similar in structure and story but I just enjoy the hell out of spending time with this character.
Our main character is very likeable and you will enjoy spending time listening to him tell his tale; he's respectable and the author writes him intelligently. I like the diversity of characters and the respect with which people from all backgrounds and genders are treated. Nothing sexist in this book but still macho as hell and wonderful! The dialogue is well written and seems realistic with believable responses and interactions. The characters behave rationally and realistically in the situations they are found in.
The action scenes and battle scenes are very realistic and are described in a way that keeps you highly engaged. You will care about this character and what happens to him. The underlying mystery is a nice solid little story. Here we have a military sci-fi author who treats the reader with respect. Well done!
The narration is spot-on and adds to the likeability and humanness of this character.

Historia
War heroes aren't usually called out of semi-retirement and sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for a routine investigation. So when Colonel Carl Butler answers the call from an old and powerful friend, he knows it's something big - and he's not being told the whole story. A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.

Historia
Under the Trestle is the true story of the most compelling murder case in Virginia history. In 1980, Gina Renee Hall, a Radford University freshman, went to a Virginia Tech nightclub on a Saturday night. She was never seen again. Her abandoned car was found parked beneath a railroad trestle bridging the New River, with blood in the trunk. The investigation led police to a secluded cabin on Claytor Lake, where there was evidence of a violent attack. Former Virginia Tech football player Stephen Epperly was charged with murder, despite the fact that Gina's body was never found.

it's so strange to hear this kind of story read by somebody with an upbeat, chipper and happy voice. The story would have felt more dramatic and more serious in better hands.

Unlikable protagonist with ZERO detective skills
Revisado: 01-03-20
Most of the dialogue seems pretty sophomoric. I think it would have been better served with a different narrator. the dialogue could have been made to seem and sound more natural in better hands. The narrator sounds more like he should be narrating a young adult fiction book. His narration is oddly chipper and upbeat for the storyline. All the characters sound a little bit odd because in these situations they wouldn't have a happy lilt to their voices.
okay, I also have to add that as I've progressed further into the book this is the most idiotic Detective I've ever heard of. He seems to not know what he's doing at every turn yet he's supposed to be experienced. He shows up unprepared, he has no discernible knowledge or skill set, he scares away clients, he doesn't have rudimentary internet skills... at least he bothers to spell out for us that he knows that he better not break into a house because that might actually be legal. ya think? This guy does not know how to write a detective and if you have any brains you'll be disappointed... there's no detective story here.
I really tried but I can't finish it. Returning this one.

Nick Adams is just a normal guy. He loves his family, appreciates his home, and covets his car. But he absolutely hates his job. Which is what makes it so difficult when not a single customer comes by his store that day. It seems as though there's a bug going around, something that has come out of nowhere and is keeping people at home. Still, it's probably nothing to worry about. People get sick all the time. And besides, things are finally starting to look up. Nick's first customer of the day has just stumbled through the door…

Not as good as Seasick
Revisado: 10-22-19
okay, well this was pretty much your standard zombie action of characters getting from point A to point B and then having to deal with each other along the way. Unlike Seasick, in this book there is no overarching mystery it's just kind of boring really. the characters aren't really very interesting. It's okay for what it is. I was expecting a little something more after having read Seasick. The narrator was quite good.

this was a fun one. Although I'm not a fan of the ending I did appreciate some of the twists and turns and was never bored. The main character behaves in a believable way and the action is never boring. I found the narrator to be so good that I ordered several other books narrated by him.
