Annoying Eden...

First, the performance is pretty good. female narrator got on my nerves towards the end, but to be fair to her, my annoyance had more to do with the lead female character than the narration. Eden- the female lead, gets to be pretty annoying half way through. Lord Save me, from whiney, weak female librarians.
One of my biggest pet peeves is a "damsel in distress" female who whines constantly yet in the next breath professes how "tough and useful" they are. Only to succumb to a panic attack of "I can't's" when faced with the nexted challenge. Ughh.... its the absolute worst way, in my opinion, to write a character.

I like strong female leads who walk the walk, not just talk the talk. Edens lack; grit, usable intelligence and overall back bone just kinda ruined the story's potential for me.

I had to give some thought to this book to write a fair review, I was somewhat conflicted.

The book is entertaining but it's also unsatisfying because 90% of this book is just a bunch of filler words that do not serve a purpose. it does not aid in developing or revealing a more complex character. Nor does it work toward a final resolution or even begin to explore more in-depth, "the voices". So much so, that it's an unnecessary trilogy. like, if you read books 1 and 3 you won't miss anything that you couldn't figure out on your own. I can tell you in 1 paragraph everything that is of importance.

As I said, this book is fine. it's entertaining but underwhelming. In my opinion, it just doesn't have the necessary grit that's truly needed to carry the book into a Trilogy. Therefore, it's just not worth the money or credit to me.

**spoiler***

Memphis and Oz apologize and continue in their plural relationship with declarations of love. Waylynn hurts her ankle. Bates moves into Waylynns house but remains in the "friend zone" despite his minimal flirting yet hopes to become her 3rd man. Memphis takes Waylynn virginity and men up and is more public about their relationship. Waylynns mom comes for a surprise visit and finds 3 men relaxing with her daughter. Unimpressed with the trio she tries to warn Oz off by telling him that Waylynn is fragile and crazy because of the voices she hears. which is where book two abruptly ends.

*******spoiler end****

Wow! This was an amazingly emotional listen. With love, loss, healing, and every other emotion dashed in between. Ultimately this story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit (and that of the author).

While this is not your traditional HEA it is one that is more rooted in the reality of this thing we call life. And life is carved with both joy and pain.

Ava Erickson and Zachary Webber did an amazing job, as always!

Definitely worth a listen!

This was an entertaining series. Overall the story combined with good narration kept me engaged.

In this reverse harem; the female lead character is strong willed and shares a "natural bond" with 5 males. There is plenty of steamy scenes that include both m/m and f/m. Which I felt I should at least mention in this review. I wish I had known that up front. but if you skip past those scenes your not missing anything crucial to the plot.

The only real negatives I can say is there are definitely points in the 2nd book and 3rd books, where the internal monologs of the main female character become so repetitive that it gets fairly annoying. Its one thing when it adds to the story but for the most part they are just rambling monologs on repeat.

Troy Duran does an excellent job as a narrator. Kendall Taylor does a decent job but during those long winded internal monologs that are on repeat for most of the second book, I started to get annoyed by the sound of her voice. In all fairness, that was probably more due to the writing rather than her narration.

Overall its not a bad series. This series definitely isn't life changing but its entertaining enough to make it worth a credit.

You just can't go wrong with Amy Harmon!! I am such a huge fan of her writing and this book is just another reminder of why I never hesitate to purchase her books.

I love how she intertwines historical people, places, and events with clever storytelling. I also love that she can write a romance novel that actually tells a story. So many romance authors tend to skip the story for steam. which is fine i suppose if thats your kick but for me I much prefer to have a storyline that has some teeth in it.

loved this story!
thanks for another great book!

Let me 1st say Den of Vipers worked because Roxy gave as good as she got; while she was damaged, she wasn't weak. She never took a punch that she didn't throw back.

She certainly didn't drown in a fog of depression from self-inflicted life choices like Rory does. Roxy didn't let people walk all over her. she didn't have to constantly say "how strong she was" because her actions showed her strength. The author successfully convinced readers that Roxy could handle the life (and men) she surrounded herself with.

That said, the main female character, Rory, in this book is the total opposite; she is whiney, spineless, and weak. While the authors attempted to convince you of her strength and survivorship, it was unsuccessfully done.

She spends the beginning of the book complaining about her life and lack of money. Yet, it doesn't hustle to find a job. So she steals to survive, but she is just as lazy as a criminal as she is a functioning member of society. When she finally does get a job, and a hint of her possible intelligence emerges, It doesn't take long before she is right back to the brainless and weak female that is pushed around by three men. Seriously, she is the type of female that strong women want to knock out for their stupidity.

While the Dixon men are similar to the Vipers, or at least I think that was the authors plan. However, that plan was unsuccessful. Unlike the Vipers, they really seem like lost boys who need a mommy. Again, they talk a good game, but its all bark with no bite.

Occasionally, dual authorship can enhance a story. Typically, it combines the writing strengths of both authors.

That said, in this case, the dual authors' voices seem to be battling each other for dominance in the story. Which ends creating a confusing mesh of non sensical character development.
All of them seem to be suffering from dual personalities.

In the end, the reader is just left feeling annoyed
by the hum drum of dumb people.

Basically, what it comes down to is an extremely unsuccessful attempt to remake Den of Vipers. If you are hoping for a repeat you will be very, very disappointed.

K.A. Knight voice and style are completely muted by that of Loxley Savage.

How disappointing....

The narration is fine. It's not great, but it's not terrible. Lackluster is the word coming to mind but definitely heard worse.

This book was hysterical. I thought it was even better than the first book. It's is a little more light-hearted than Jake's story, though Kyle did have his own battles. however all in all this is just a fun listen!

One of my favorite things about JA Huss books is by the end, I am typically stunned into silence, and the only word I can muster is.....

F*** !!!!

Seriously, she is the only author that I have read (or listened to) in the romance genre that has been able to throw that metaphorical curveball into her storylines, and I just do not see it coming! Curveball is perhaps a bit of an understatement. It's really more like a nuke exploding in front of you. Then left to watch, as the blast radius ripples out and blows apart everything you thought you knew about the entire story.

I'm so excited to FINALLY have Nick Tate and Wendy's story! These characters play roles in so many other "company" books. So for them to have their own leading role is fantastic. I am assuming it is going to be continued in the next book.

I also love that Merc (from "See you in the Dark") is back! He's been so very twisted in other books. So to see him get twisted, it's more than amusing!

This book did not disappoint!

Performance was awesome. Hathaway Lee (Wendy) has become one of favorite female narrators. Joe Arden (Nick) and Troy Duran (Merc), as always, did a fantastic job!

Loved it!!!
