Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

A Feminist Story written by a Man
Revisado: 08-09-23
I enjoyed the premise from a sci-fi perspective, but found the feminist tropes a bit long in the tooth. Truly, men and women have their differences, but in the West Virginian town where this story takes place, it seemed that all of the women were heroic and none of the men had any redeeming qualities.
I finished the story because I don't like to leave a book unfinished. That being said, the reader's performance was probably what kept me close and helped me get through to the end.
I hope that Mr. King looks into his own life and remembers that he's a man, too.

Historia
A dark and sweeping adventure, Dreamcatcher is set in the haunted city of Derry - the site of Stephen King's It and Insomnia. In it, four young boys stand together and do a brave, good thing, an act that changes them in ways that they hardly understand. A quarter-century later, as grown men who have gone their separate ways, these friends come together once a year to hunt in the woods of Maine.

Struggled to finish. Actually saw the movie long before I heard the book. It was refreshing to see deeper into the characters, but the story of the aliens (byrum) is confusing. Read with caution.

A firsthand account from the blue-collar boy who grew up to take on Disney and Dr. Fauci, The Courage to Be Free delivers something rare from an elected leader: stories of victory. This book is a winning blueprint for patriots across the country. And it is a rallying cry for every American who wishes to preserve our liberties.

A leader for the People
Revisado: 03-07-23
I didn't know much about DeSantis before reading this, other than his predeliction for pissing off mainstream media and a certain rodent-lead corporation. There is so much more to him than we hear. I strongly recommend listening (it's a quick listen).
DeSantis' political acumen is laid out well, as is his compassion for the law and for the people of Florida. I do hope he runs for President of the United States. How he would navigate the White House would be a pleasure to watch.

Power and Faith and everything in between...
Revisado: 12-24-22
My introduction to Cameron Winter. A complex and highly intelligent man with a "Strange Habit..." as it were. I won't go into a synopsis, but I can tell you that while I like spy stories, this is my first time listening to one in novel/ audible form. It's not an action film, but a carefully tension-packed drama.
At first, I wasn't impressed with the audio performer, but got comfortable with his voice and characterizations about a 1/2 way through the story. He seemed, at first, very plain vanilla, but seemed to improve as the story blossomed.
I couldn't stop listening as the author moves quickly and logically through each chapter cliff-hanger to a very satisfying, yet not Hollywood-style conclusion. It is very much a modern day ending that we see played out, if you're a social or corporate media watcher, every day amongst the rich and famous.
There are strong conservative view points among its complex characters, chiefly the Recruiter, combined with plenty of social issues that affect many of us each day.
Thanks, Mr. Klavan for putting together a fast-paced and interesting adventure.

Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Having first seen the movie l, I could not wait to look into the King's more complex character descriptions and relationships. I was especially pleased with the True, but would have liked to learn more of their history, especially the main antagonists. Yet, Danny and Abra are fabulous and their plot twist took me by surprise.
Will Patton's performance was nothing short of brilliant (would love to learn the process of interpreting then performing the prose! I look forward to more from Will.
Thank you, Mr. King, for keeping me frightened since my early Fangoria days... stay healthy and scary!

Historia
Dave Rubin launched his political talk show The Rubin Report in 2015 as a meeting ground for free thinkers who realize that partisan politics is a dead end. He hosts people he both agrees and disagrees with - including those who have been dismissed, deplatformed, and despised - taking on the most controversial issues of our day. As a result, he’s become a voice of reason in a time of madness. Now, Rubin gives you the tools you need to think for yourself in an age when tribal outrage is the only available alternative.

Wonderfully performed and the content will be relevant long past the current political climate. With a whole chapter devoted to his relationship with Jordan Peterson, the book comes off as straight self-help as well as Dave's typical everyday beliefs.
This is the first audio book I completed in less than one day!

A Small Dose of Sober Reality and Reason
Revisado: 03-12-20
As with Tucker's daily cable programming, his stories in this book challenge elitist orthodoxy and upper class dogma. This book leaves me feeling sorry for the challenges that my children must eventually face in light of the purposeful life I share with them every day. It is full of unreasonable hypocrisy and dozens of examples of the religion of foolish existence. If you are a thinking person with an open mind, this book is for you. If you are a social ideologue, this book is a MUST HAVE, although you may explode in a hale of sacrilege...

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

Revenge served Cold, very cold!
Revisado: 10-31-19
I read this story many years ago and found it fascinating and somewhat challenging. The old English (translated from French) idioms, grammar, and vocabulary will keep you searching... This audio performance was absolutely magnificent and while some of the chapters seems to get away from the main plot, it is the reader's performance that saves these many subplots. This audio is very long and not first everyone. If you enjoy fiction interwoven with history, you'll enjoy this view of French life in the early 19th century. I gave it 4 stars because I found some of the sub-plots excessive and boring at times. One can also collect the abridged version, which may keep the listener on track with the main plot. PS, the story is somewhat different than the Caviezal film.
