Historia
Meghan, Brecia, and Skye have just one thing in common. They were all murdered by the same man. He hunted them online, masquerading as an eligible bachelor. Then he played the perfect gentleman, a thick layer of charm and a thousand-watt smile hiding the fact that his first dates end in shallow graves. He’s gotten away with murder three times now. The only thing that might keep him from killing again? The women he murdered. Meghan, Brecia, and Skye might be dead, but they’re not gone. They’ve found each other. And they won’t rest until they find a way to stop him. The haunt is on.

I did not know what to expect from this book but I'm glad I took a chance on an author I had not read before! The stories wove intricately together to create a tapestry that had me plowing through the entire book in less than 2 days.

Two women. Many aliases. Meg Williams. Maggie Littleton. Melody Wilde. Different names for the same person, depending on the town, depending on the job. She's a con artist who erases herself to become whoever you need her to be—a college student. A life coach. A real estate agent. Nothing about her is real. She slides alongside you and tells you exactly what you need to hear, and by the time she's done, you've likely lost everything.

Suspense without murder! Refreshing!
Revisado: 06-04-23
Once I got about five minutes into this book I was unable to stop listening. I love mystery and suspense novels but hate when their is copious amounts of murder and sex, it's often not necessary and sometimes uncomfortable to listen to as an audio book (but that's just me). This book was exciting and suspenseful and portrayed relationships without graphic sex and murder. The characters were relatable and honest- not perfect or stereotypical. The narration was well done, the voices matched the characters perfectly. This was an easy listen so I quickly bought another book by this author.

Fast moving suspense with a supernatural twist
Revisado: 09-05-22
I could not put this listen away- I would have to force myself to stop listening. I enjoyed the full circle story that even evoked some nostalgic moments from the listeners. The author pays close attention to details of the nuances in relationships between a parent and a child, a father and a daughter and between husband and wife.
Interesting and will keep you involved as long as you can suspend reality enough to enjoy the mystery.

I love Lisa Jewell and this one is a new favorite. Some content might make the listener a bit uncomfortable and frustrated, but the storytelling is superb and the narrators are spot on. Excellent listen.

Lippman's brilliant and disturbing tale of three inseparable high school girlfriends in an affluent Baltimore suburb who share dark secrets literally until death, To the Power of Three is this "writing powerhouse" ( USA Today), who has "exploded the boundaries of the mystery genre to become one of the most significant social realists of our time" (Madison Smartt Bell) operating at the very top of her game.

Good story, horrible narration and production
Revisado: 12-11-20
I love this author but it was a struggle to finish this book. I listened to it at 1.45 speed and while it sped up the droll monotonous sentences, you could still drive a truck between phrases. I often would look at my phone in between to check to make sure it was still playing the pauses were so long.
Plus the constant sound of licking lips and breathing got awkward and frustrating.
I wish I had read this one in book form, I probably would have enjoyed it much more.

Historia
Author Cassandra Fallows has achieved remarkable success by baring her life on the page. Her two widely popular memoirs continue to sell briskly, acclaimed for their brutal, unexpurgated candor about friends, family, lovers - and herself. But now, after a singularly unsuccessful stab at fiction, Cassandra believes she may have found the story that will enable her triumphant return to nonfiction.

Recent Lippman fan
Revisado: 09-25-20
I enjoyed this story mainly due to the complex female characters created by the author- most suspemse novels with female leads tell the story of 20-somethings who don't have any depth or substance to them and whose biggest accomplishment is finding a suitable lover. These characters are mainly in their forties and fifties, with real world experiences, mistakes in their love lives and careers, tackling middle age in all different ways. This is what kept me interested.
The plot line moved a little slowly, and left me a little unfulfilled at the end, and the weird transition music DID NOT suit the story at all. It is jarring and ridiculous. Please take that out- completely unnecessary.
Otherwise, if you enjoy Laura Lippman novels- her tendency to include an element of race and literature woven into interesting plot lines- you will enjoy this one.

Interesting story, but slow and overly-detailed
Revisado: 01-06-19
I am a professor and we are considering adopting this book for our campus common book, to be read in several class and across multiple disciplines. I REALLY wanted to like this book, but it progressed slowly and had so many unnecessary details (such as specific addresses and names) that take away from the story, including mentioning other colleagues of the officer who wanted to include themselves in the investigation but were a nuisance instead- the constant mentioning of this person seemed more like a personal jab or axe to grind. I do like the story overall, I think I would have liked this better if read by an actor- the storytelling gets sluggish as the narrator gets seemingly tired from talking. He starts out fine and then gets mush-mouthed and sloppy.
