Historia
Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors - and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment, alongside two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead - with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.

Missed Win
Revisado: 03-24-21
I didn't realize until I listened to this book how much I missed Win. In many of the best ways, he is still Win. However, he has also matured and his emotional defensives are a little lower. The storyline is compelling and hard to put down. I can't wait for the next Win book!

When Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are called to London, North Dakota, they instantly sense that the thriving fracking town is ripe for trouble. The promise of a second gold rush has attracted an onslaught of newcomers all hoping for a windfall, and the community is growing faster than houses can be built. The sudden boom has also brought a slew of problems with it, including drugs, property crimes, prostitution—and now murder.

GOOD BUT NOT AMOS DECKER
Revisado: 05-17-20
I enjoyed the book and don't regret purchasing. However, while it had the complex interwoven plots typical of Connelly's stories, Decker's memory skills played an insignificant role in the story. I doubt any of the characters introduced in the book saw anything but a complex FBI agent. Books of highly intelligent FBI investigators abound. I missed the Memory Man.

Finally--A Female Warrior
Revisado: 03-06-20
I don't read a lot of time travel romances because the plot always seems the same; a weak lost modern girl, lack of communication causing strife, a male chauvinist laird. This book offered a much more interesting take. Both understood immediately that she had been sent back in time and he accepted and encouraged her sword and martial arts skills. The laird's emotional growth is interesting without him losing his masculinity. I will definitely read another by the author.

Historia
The best-selling author of American Housewife is back with a fiercely funny collection of essays on marriage and manners, thank-you notes and three-ways, ghosts, gunshots, gynecology, and the Calgon-scented, onion-dipped, monogrammed art of living as a Southern lady.

Just OK

As a Southern woman, I know there is tons of material to work with for this book. Unfortunately, I found most of the humor flat or trite. It had the potential to be so much better.

How the Bible Actually Works makes clear that there is no one right way to read or listen to the Bible. Moving us beyond the damaging idea that “being right” is the most important measure of faith, Enns’ freeing approach to Bible study helps us to instead focus on pursuing enlightenment and building our relationship with God - which is exactly what the Bible was designed to do.

Thought Provoking
Revisado: 05-24-19
if you are like me and questioning the numerous inconsistencies within the Bible or trying to make the ancient words apply to your modern life, this book is well worth exploring. While I do not agree with every component of the author's ideology, he certainly offers plenty of insight to give you days to ponder.

Great Complex Storytelling
Revisado: 12-26-18
This is a complex tale of political intrigue told in a spellbinding manner. After a dramatic opening, the story seemed to slow into a typical tale of the dynamics between two presidential campaigns. However, as the investigation into the murder of the presidential candidate's wife unfolded the true nature of this book grabbed my attention and held it fast until the end. If you find your attention wandering after the first few chapters, stay with the story and you will be rewarded with a first rate story of espionage.

Enough With Mind Games
Revisado: 12-12-18
I have hung in with this series because I felt it had potential. However, three books is enough of mind games, very limited action and irrational behavior by the main character and no satisfying resolution to any issue. Clearly, this series isn't for me; I'm done.

WOW
Revisado: 11-30-18
Thank you to reviewer Wayne for your recomendation of this book. As many have mentioned the comparison to Jack Reacher are unavoidable as is the suggestion that Widow is Reacher's son, if the timelines were different. I'm fine with the similar characters because I can't get enough of either! On to the next in this series.

Love this Series
Revisado: 11-27-18
Ember is the group of operators the US calls upon when something MUST be done. In past books the Ember team has changed and evolved making it difficult to form bonds and function as a well oiled machine. In this book, everything comes together; not only is the action seamless, but we are allowed a deeper peak into the character and spirit of persons forming the team. Deeply satisfying book. While this is a stand alone story, you will get more out of the series by listening to them in order.

Pinion, Minnesota: a huge city of all of 700 folks who define the phrase ‘small town’. Nothing has ever happened in Pinion, and nothing ever will...until the mayor of sorts comes up with a scheme to put Pinion on the map. He’s heard of a place where a floating image of the Virgin Mary turned the whole town into a shrine, attracting thousands of curious people and making the townsfolk rich overnight. Why not stage a prank in Pinion and do the same? What could go wrong? And then a dead body shows up.

Sandford Does it Again
Revisado: 10-23-18
I find that many authors of series books tend to fall into the formula trap after producing four or five books with the same main characters. To the delight of his legion of fans, Sandford avoids this trend with the Virgil Flowers series. This book is as fresh and interesting as the first book of the series, while maintaining all the elements that make "that f$#king Flowers" so beloved. The hunt for the killer in a small town is complex and believable. I really enjoy the complexity Sandford weaves into the support characters of the townspeople. Sandford does it again; creating an imaginary world you look forward to spending a few hours in and longing for when the story is complete.
