Historia
On a splendid August afternoon, Susanna Osbourne is introduced to the most handsome man she has ever seen...and instantly feels the icy chill of recognition. Peter Edgeworth, Viscount Whitleaf, is utterly charming - and seemingly unaware that they have met before. With his knowing smile and seductive gaze, Peter acts the rake; but he stirs something in Susanna she has never felt before, a yearning that both frightens and dazzles her.

We all need a Peter in our life!
Revisado: 04-24-25
Oh man, this was my favorite of this quartet, and I did love them all. Most regency Romances, I love the heroine, and the man is good deep down, but Peter is just such a lovable person from the get go, and somehow he still has so much depth of character and development through the plot. Susannah is also very lovable and strong as a character, but this book made me grin like a fools with their interactions. I love all of Mary Balogh’s books, but this was my favorite so far.

Historia
Using never before seen sources, Once a King is a fresh, revelatory and gripping insight into the Duke of Windsor - King Edward VIII - who gave up the throne to marry the woman he loved, twice divorced American Wallis Simpson. Considering Edward VIII's travels and interests as Prince of Wales as well as his relationship with Wallis Simpson and the course of events leading up to his abdication and subsequent exile, Once a King offers a previously unexplored lens through which we encounter two of the twentieth century's most iconic Royal figures: the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

Fascinating – Completely Upended My View of Edward VIII
Revisado: 02-02-24
I’m someone who has read hundreds of books on 20th Century British History, and a lot about the abdication & the Windsor’s life afterwards. So much of the recent historical work on them has been oriented around their Nazi slant, but this has been the most thorough criticism of that storyline that I’ve read. It’s remarkable that we’re able to read so much of the story in his own words; I can’t believe that none of this was accessible before. Edward is so much more likable in this narrative, Wallis is so much less of an operator, and the way the story has been retold is so much different from how they tell it. Once you add in the criticism of the Nazi subplot historiography in the last section, it’s really a completely new book from any other I’ve read on the subject, and brings so much more material to the table to be discussed in the historical conversation.

One of Our Fave Junie B Books!
Revisado: 05-31-23
This series is a hit with both my kindergartener and first grader, and this book is one of the best! We listen to audiobooks in the car rides and during bedtime. This one is such a great story with a great ending that taught the kids lessons about helping a friend feel better, while also keeping them laughing the whole time! Even as a parent, it’s pretty darn entertaining because you can relate so well to the “oops” moments with the kids.

Junie B. does her best, but life just has so many interesting possibilities, which often land her in trouble with the teacher and her parents. No matter how mixed-up things get, one thing's for sure, you'll have a good laugh listening to Junie B.'s adventures!

What I think of this book (it’s really good)
Revisado: 01-03-21
I love this book the only thing I dislike is that I fell that she reads very slow (but all audio books do that) so I usually have it on 1.2 -1.3 speed. I really like listening to these books because I and too lazy to read them irl. Oh btw I’m 10 so... don’t take my opinion to much.

My opinion (this was written by a nine year old)
Revisado: 09-18-20
I love Harry Potter in general but Jim dale made this a whole different experience. I love how he does the voices and how he reads with so much expression!!! the only thing I would say is that it goes kinda slow I usually have it at 1.3 speed when I’m listening. I put on this before bed every night and fall asleep to it. over all this audio book was awesome
