Tough to get through
Revisado: 05-03-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you enjoy flowery, over-expressed sentences that try to elicit drama, you might like this book.
What could Keith Houghton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
There were simply times that the description of the scene went too far into detail and came up empty. I don't need to know about someone's "acid tears". They were crying - that's enough. Blue eyes don't need to be "sparkling" and an interrogator in a gritty crime story shouldn't be called a "police inquisitor". This book just tried too hard to be dramatic. With good story-telling, you should care about one or more of the characters. All I cared about was the sweet end to it all. It was way too much melodrama.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narration was fine. It was clearly spoken. I don't think the narrator could make up for the deficiencies in the story.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It wasn't overly long.
Any additional comments?
I'm put-off enough by this book to put the author on my blacklist. If my review is read by the author, I can only imagine his acid tears streaming out of his blue, sparkling eyes. *gag*

Short and very sweet. Powerful, dramatic delivery.

Would you consider the audio edition of Crash Dive to be better than the print version?
I cannot comment. I have not read the printed version.
What other book might you compare Crash Dive to and why?
R.C. Bray's narration of Crash Dive ensures that the story reaches its maximum potential for drama and pure entertainment. If you enjoy R.C. on Crash Dive, do yourself a huge favor and give The Martian by Andy Weir a listen.
Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I first listened to R.C. Bray performing The Martian. R.C.'s narrations are the gold-standard and I am disappointed by other performers whose works don't measure up.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Sometimes a phoenix rises from the depths, not the ashes.
