Historia
When their father dies, none of the three Harcourt girls are particularly upset. The loss of the family's income, however, is not something so easily overcome. When their mother Anna discovers that they have been left penniless, she decides to move them out of London and back to her hometown in Scotland.

In my cozy era
Revisado: 04-19-25
I liked the story a lot. This is my first D.E. Stevenson and certainly not my last. The ending was a bit of a doozy but it was still cozy nonetheless. I recommend. The audio wasn’t my favorite, because the male parts still sounded like it was the same person.

A bad company indeed
Revisado: 05-17-24
Rosenblum’s “Bad Summer People” was better, IMHO. This isn’t terrible, and it was a quick audio listen. I recommend borrowing the print copy from the library, so that it’ll be easier to fall along with all of the characters, and take it on a trip with you this summer.

Historia
A chance meeting. A hunky hockey player. A fake romance. Hardly an ordinary day in the life of Poppy Hart. My days usually consist of agonizing over my failing restaurant, worrying about my mountain of debt, and nursing my broken heart. Everything changes when I bump into a man in the coffee shop and claim him as my new boyfriend. To my absolute horror, he turns out to be hockey's most renowned bad boy, Dallas Burke. To my absolute delight, he goes along with my story.

Historia
In Little Pink House, award-winning investigative journalist Jeff Benedict takes us behind the scenes of this case - indeed, Suzette Kelo speaks for the first time about all the details of this inspirational true story as one woman led the charge to take on corporate America to save her home. Suzette Kelo was just trying to rebuild her life when she purchased a falling down Victorian house perched on the waterfront in New London, CT. The house wasn't particularly fancy, but with lots of hard work Suzette was able to turn it into a home that was important to her.

Historia
Sir Francis Bacon's The New Atlantis is a utopian novel about a mythical land called Bensalem, where the inhabitants live happily with the sciences. In The New Atlantis, Bacon focuses on the duty of the state toward science, and his projections for state-sponsored research anticipate many advances in medicine and surgery, meteorology, and machinery. Although The New Atlantis is only a part of his plan for an ideal commonwealth, this work does represent Bacon's ideological beliefs.

I wonder if Bacon didn’t know how to end this, and so he just never got back to it, and then he died. I mean where do you go from there when he made a perfect society?

Historia
Far from being an engaging fable, the account of Job in the Bible is one of the most historically and scientifically accurate records of the ancient world. Perhaps the oldest book in the Bible, the Book of Job touches on many subjects of science and history. This commentary on the controversial Book of Job is very different from most of the seminary and church teachings so prevalent today, for it attests to the historicity of a man named Job who understood at the end of his life that God cannot be "figured out", but He can most certainly be trusted.
