Historia
Demons, jinn, possession, sinister artifacts, and gruesome archaeological discoveries haunt this new book by Dr. Heather Lynn. Evil Archaeology investigates the archaeological record for artifacts and evidence of evil entities, revealing how demons from the ancient world may be dwelling among us. It also looks at the history and lore behind real relics believed to be haunted and includes historical accounts of demonic possession that go as far back as King Solomon invoking demons to help him build his famed temple.

Super fun and interesting
Revisado: 11-01-23
Read this as a Halloween treat - it did not disappoint. It gives you an interesting glimpse into how humans coped in the past with the world around us, and perhaps a glimpse of who we still are today, despite science and reason being important. I highly recommend this book if you’re into ancient history and religion.

Historia
Americans responded to the deadly terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, with an outpouring of patriotism, though all were not united in their expression. A war-based patriotism inspired millions of Americans to wave the flag and support a brutal War on Terror in Afghanistan and Iraq, while many other Americans demanded an empathic patriotism that would bear witness to the death and suffering surrounding the attack. Twenty years later, the war still simmers, and both forms of patriotism continue to shape historical understandings of 9/11's legacy and the political life of the nation.

I learned so much from this book. I wish this was required knowledge and perspective for school discussions in American History and Government classes. This gave me a very clear perspective I did not have previously on our current political and cultural climate. Thank you for writing this book. Thank you as well to the narrator for clarity and depth in your reading.

Finished this gem today. Great to learn about OSINT and social engineering. The book is short and humorous, handles the more serious side of dealing with stalkers and harassers well, and is jam packed with interesting info.

Historia
David Sheff's story is a first: a teenager's addiction from the parent's point of view, a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the gradual emergence into hope.
Before meth, Sheff's son, Nic, was a varsity athlete, honor student, and award-winning journalist. After meth, he was a trembling wraith who stole money from his eight-year-old brother and lived on the streets. With haunting candor, Sheff traces the first warning signs, the attempts at rehabilitation, and, at last, the way past addiction. He shows us that, whatever an addict's fate, the rest of the family must care for one another, too, lest they become addicted to addiction.

Thank you for sharing your story. I was not expecting such an intimate look into the mind of a father. It was beautiful, and the writing flows. The narrator voice gives the perfect touch to the story.

Historia
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

It will change your perspective
Revisado: 10-06-22
There are books that will throw you into a new stage of progress in your health and this one of them. I had not seriously considered the role my inner critic plays in my own life story, and this illuminated my own cptsd in a way that will help me move forward and stop gaslighting, questioning, and second guessing myself. The narrator and pace of the reading was great for me. Thank you for writing this book, Peter.

Historia
Before she was a trauma cleaner, Sandra Pankhurst was many things: husband and father, drag queen, gender reassignment patient, sex worker, small businesswoman, trophy wife... but as a little boy, raised in violence and excluded from the family home, she just wanted to belong. Now she believes her clients deserve no less. A man who bled quietly to death in his living room. Sarah Krasnostein has watched the extraordinary Sandra Pankhurst bring order and care to these, the living and the dead - and the book she has written is equally extraordinary.

Cuts to the heart
Revisado: 09-28-22
This book spoke to me on a deep level. It is a caring look through the eyes of both the subject and the author. It evokes that special something that can bring two strangers on a train together briefly only to depart and forget the moment they shared after the journey, while being profoundly touched and changed by the experience.

Historia
Published during a literary era marked by the ascendance of Black writers such as Richard Wright, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, and Alex Haley, this thinly fictionalized account of Claude Brown’s childhood as a hardened, streetwise criminal trying to survive the toughest streets of Harlem has been heralded as the definitive account of everyday life for the first generation of African Americans raised in the Northern ghettos of the 1940s and 1950s.

Read / listen to it now!
Revisado: 09-07-22
I happened upon the title while listening to another book that referenced it. I work in a warehouse and listen to books while working. I look for long books so they take up a while and I was so sad this book ended. I just wanted to keep on listening to Claude’s life. I felt like I was walking with him the whole time, and the voice actor who read the book was amazing. I felt what he was saying viscerally and feel like there’s something in this to learn from no matter who you are. A real look at life. I definitely recommend this to young folks and old alike.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
