When a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors—outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge.

More of what you enjoyed.
Revisado: 05-18-24
I would assume if you are reading the book you most likely have seen the movie. The book has everything the movie has but with more details about the characters major and minor. It also as scenes that will be in the R rated cut and some scenes that are only in the book. If you enjoyed the movie you will only find more to enjoy in this novel.

Historia
Only two people know that 1930s society man Lamont Cranston has a secret identity as the Shadow, a crusader for justice. One is his greatest love, Margo Lane, and the other is fiercest enemy, Shiwan Khan. When Khan ambushes the couple, they must risk everything for the slimmest chance of survival...in the future. A century and a half later, Lamont awakens in a world both unknown and disturbingly familiar. The first person he meets is Maddy Gomes, a teenager with her own mysterious secrets, including a knowledge of the legend of the Shadow.

The Shadow without pulp.
Revisado: 07-20-21
I was looking for to a Shadow novel by James Patterson and it stared off well but as it went on got progressively worse. They could have told a compelling man out of time story with the Shadow as he is, giving him new powers was unnecessary. I personally would have like a more straight forward pulp Shadow story to start this series and then have done a time jump and maybe with better explanations experimenting with the character.

Historia
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Malcolm X minus the epilogue
Revisado: 05-16-21
Loved hearing the story of Malcolm Xs life, if you have only seen the Spike Lee movie you only know part of the story. My only criticism is that the epilogue by Alex Haley was missing so I felt short changed and that I did not get the complete book.
