Historia
Shotgun, Texas didn’t come by its name accidentally. In this Wild West town, shootouts are commonplace. Trying to keep peace in this rough place is Liberty Drake, a sharpshooting female deputy who has no trouble holding her own—until she meets Slater Rawlings, a handsome ex-Texas Ranger. As their love grows, Slater wants Liberty as his wife. But he also wants her to give up her gun and badge. Caught between her heart and her job, Liberty asks God for guidance. All the emotions and struggles the young couple face are fully captured by Ed Sala’s dramatic narration.

Excellent book!
Revisado: 06-20-22
This is one of my favorite series from one of my favorite authors. The narrator does a superb job with the voices. I love that both of the main characters come from loving, supportive families yet have to recognize and deal with personal sin. This book is not just entertaining and extremely well written, but it also challenges the reader to examine their own trust in God. I highly recommend it and the other 2 in this series.

Best Narrator
Revisado: 01-10-22
John McDonough is a superb narrator. I think his voice is exactly how Father Tim sounds! Along with Cynthia, this is one of my favorites of Father Tim’s parishes and one of the best of Jan Karon’s excellent series. The lessons the characters learn are lessons we all need to learn and relearn.

Delightful
Revisado: 02-25-21
I really enjoy all of the books in the Red River series and these books following, but this is one of my favorites. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices and accents. Very pleasurable listening. I appreciate how the characters pray for and with one another through good times and bad and scriptures are often quoted in appropriate places.

Power of redemption
Revisado: 09-14-20
A beautiful story of how Christ forgives our past sins, offers a clean start, and gives us a new nature. And people who are given a new life in Christ are to offer grace to others and not hold past mistakes against them. This is one of my favorite Lori Wick books.

Historia
Millions of Karon fans will be thrilled that it's life as usual in the wildly popular Mitford series: A beloved town character lands a front-page obituary, but who was it, exactly, who died? And what about the former mayor, born the year Lindbergh landed in Paris, who's still running for office? All this, of course, is but a feather on the wind compared to Muse editor J. C. Hogan's desperate attempts to find a cure for his marital woes. Will it be high-def TV or his pork chop marinade?

Father Tim continues to inspire
Revisado: 03-12-18
A very enjoyable continuation of the life of a Father Tim and Cynthia and the townsfolk of Mitford. I loved the ways the author gave us updates on the lives of characters we’ve met in other places during Father Tim’s travels. Only thing I didn’t enjoy was the frequent used of pronouns instead of names so one was always having to wait for a clue as to whom the author was discussing. There was way too much of that happening all through the book. John McDonough did a superb narration as usual.

Interesting fictional account of Biblical history
Revisado: 02-11-17
The story was well done including many Old Testament scriptures. However since nearly all the characters were men, I would have enjoyed it much more with a male narrator. Some of the raspy voices the female narrator attempted grated on my ears

Excellent story
Revisado: 12-12-16
The second book in one of my favorite series. Continues telling of potential events as the forces of good and evil begin taking sides after the Rapture of the church. Narrator ruined the book for me with the sound of pages turning and sniveling voices for two of the main characters who are Israeli. Not that we are to like the anti-Christ character, but his voice is also whiny which does not fit with the author's characterization of him as appearing brilliant and in control.

Historia
Thousands of readers have come home to Mitford, the little town with the big heart, whose endearing and eccentric residents have become like family members. But now change is coming to the hamlet. Father Tim, the Episcopal rector, and his wife Cynthia are pondering retirement; a brash new mayoral candidate is calling for aggressive development; a suspicious realtor with plans for a health spa is eyeing the beloved house on the hill; and, worst of all, the Sweet Stuff Bakery may be closing.

I love the continuing story of Father Tim, Cynthia and the fine folks of Mitford. While it was lovely to hear the author read her own work, I missed the fine baritone of John McDonough whose voice transports me right into Mitford instead of hearing a story read.
