Great characters and engrossing story
Revisado: 03-31-25
Great story. I have to say my favorite parts were the old feudal Japan stories interwoven with the main tale, giving background both on the swords and Japan's history.

Growing a perfect moustache, grilling red meat, wooing a woman - who better to deliver this tutelage than the always charming, always manly Nick Offerman, best known as Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson? Combining his trademark comic voice and very real expertise in woodworking - he runs his own woodshop - Paddle Your Own Canoe features tales from Offerman's childhood in small-town Minooka, Illinois, to his theater days in Chicago, beginnings as a carpenter/actor and the hilarious and magnificent seduction of his now-wife Megan Mullally.

Entertaining, but not funny.
Revisado: 07-26-24
I think "humorous" in the description should be changed to sarcastic and dry. The book is entertaining in most regards, but it was not the "funny" memoir I had hoped for.

Historia
It's summer on the Jersey Shore. Children play on the beach. Husbands are off working in the city. And the surf echoes in the night. Here, in this perfect place, a serial killer has no worries in the world - except choosing the next victim. Cam Hastings has come to Long Beach Island with her teenage daughter and the hope that maybe she can save her failed marriage. Cam has never stopped loving her husband, Mike, nor has she been able to outrun her flaws and demons - a vanished mother, a lost sister, and the ugly visions she has of missing children.

Extremely slow to get the storyline
Revisado: 05-09-22
Four hours into listening and I was still wondering when this story was going to start. It was all character development and back story. I finally had to quit and move on to another book. Reader is okay, but the constant shifting from first to third person was distracting and made it difficult to follow the plot ... if there actually is one.

Historia
Esmy is singularly frustrated by the lack of pockets in women's clothing. Living in a small Indiana college town with her librarian brother, Jake, Esmy is stuck in a rut with fixing the same crappy WiFi issues day in and day out. But meeting Loki, the mischievous trickster god of Norse legend, ignites her life like a powder-keg. This simple, seemingly innocuous encounter leads her and Jake to discover the college campus's mysterious depths, involving voodoo priestesses, Sasquatches, vampires, a Canadian with a vendetta against the girl scouts, and much more.

Definitely worth reading!
Revisado: 02-25-19
Over a God's Dead Body is an enjoyable book with a solid premise. The story kept me entertained throughout and Joel Spriggs' characters were well fleshed out and relatable. I look forward to any more books in this series.
One issue I did struggle with is that the narrator was slightly inconsistent. Early in the book, there were times his narration pulled me out of the story, but I don't think it detracts from the overall enjoyment of the tale.
