More than a compilation of short stories, Oathblood rounds out the myths and legends of Kethry and Tamra. It contains the origin stories as well as several bridges between the other two books. I found the final story to be a most satisfying conclusion for the pair. TheyvdonshownupninnBybthe sword, but as supporting characters rather than focus.
I read this when first published and was very pleased to find it in audio format. Well narrated and even better than I remembered.

This is the work of a master. Lackey’s early writing has a timeless quality and holds its place in the world of fantasy. Epic women warriors and sorceresses, rich world building. Gorgeous storytelling.

The dynamics of this story are just right. Balance of humor and romance, with a tight weave of world building beneath it all. I will happily read the rest of this series. As I both read and listened to this I was reminded how much I enjoy this narrator as well as the author. Well done.

Mal’s story may be shorter than some of the others but it is the perfect length. Not too much angst. Plenty of snark. And a lovely growth for both characters as they learn to trust in what they feel. This is a most satisfying read.

A lovely novella.

This is the perfect finish to the series. So good to revisit Gabe & Dylan’s storyline. Cameos by the other two couples complete the circle. Expect to finish with misty eyes and a smile. Thanks Lily!

A more complex story than it seems at first.

Although there is some undisclosed backstory to the two main characters the story doesn’t suffer from it. Both characters are well crafted and have believable flaws as well as attributes. The mystery of the missing child is well balanced against the interpersonal relationship, and the rate of discovery of evidence is believable. Great pacing, interesting story, and a satisfying finish to book one. I’m planning to go straight to book two.
The narrator added dimension to the story, and I look forward to listening to more of his work.

Good to expose domestic abuse, no matter the composition of the couple or family. Too often the abuser preemptively accuses the victim. Learn the signs and be part of the solution.

Good storytelling

I enjoyed this story. Two broken characters who grow and mend. More realistic and interesting. I am not a fan of one of the narrators, but powered through and found I enjoyed it overall.

Never enough Hartbridge!

Yet another couple brought together by the Christmas magic of this small town. The community of friends continues to grow in beautiful ways. I do wish home renovations went as quickly as they did in this story, but I liked how it all melded into the perfect scenario for the friendship that led to romance.
