Historia
Eleven-year-old Kiera Quinn is sure she’s having a nightmare. She doesn’t believe a nap that started in her suburban bedroom ends in an empty wasteland. She doesn’t believe everyone she’s ever known may have never existed - and she definitely doesn’t believe an old man who tells her she will resurrect the world. The odd shaman clad in junk and old computer parts claims she is "the child born of the earth", humanity’s only chance to survive. Desperate and scared, Kiera humors him, hoping her bad dream ends soon.

Kiera keeps her head about her.
Revisado: 05-30-20
Kiera finds her world is not what it seems. She awakens to the real world and it takes time to realize it's not a dream but before was the dream. It's a bit wild how the kids dress.....I think you will understand what I mean when you listen to the story. She does keep her wits about her and self discovery evolves over the arc of the story. So far this is a stand alone story. I would like to see more books about the changes brought about from her actions. I enjoyed listening to it. It's a great listen or read. The narrator did a good job. I think the author is very imaginative and I enjoy his books. If you enjoy dystopian settings this is a book for you. I highly recommend it.

Historia
For most 12-year-olds, being kidnapped is terrifying. For Althea, it’s only Tuesday. Her powers of healing make her a precious commodity in the Badlands, a place where the strong write the law in blood. For as long as she can remember, she has lived either as a possession or a goddess. Althea contents herself with captivity as long as she can help others, even those who killed to own her. After three whole months in the same village, the friendship of a young warrior makes her feel almost like a member of the tribe rather than a prisoner.

This dystopian story is set in a time far removed from our current luxuries in comparison to the barren and stripped resources she now lives in. She wants love more than anything but her struggles give her pause. Is it even possible? She is passed around like property yet she still keeps herself reserved to help despite her circumstances and how she is treated. Her ability is very prized and sought after. I think she is too forgiving but at her age and the need to help others overrides a sense of self worth at times. This is just the first of several in a series that I can't wait to finish. I look forward to seeing how she develops as I discover her in future stories in this series. I can't wait to find out how she evolves. The narrator did a good job and I give her a thumbs up. I would recommend this audible or even the hard copy. It will keep you wanting to go back and find out what happens with her. Did she find love? Does she find any self worth? The author is a great writer and if you enjoy dystopian type stories this is right up your alley.

Historia
Saving the world isn’t easy. It’s even harder when you’re only nine. Kelly Donovan used to be a nobody. Well, a smart nobody. Skipping ahead a year in school made her the smallest kid in fifth grade and a target for bullies in search of an easy mark. She tried to follow her father’s advice and ignore them, but it didn’t do any good. Escaping into her favorite comic books at least helped her through the day. Who needs friends anyway? Sometimes, dreams find a way to come true, even if nobody asked them to.

Funny and Exciting
Revisado: 09-21-19
One can't help but grow to love Kelly and want the best for her when you learn of her struggles. She is taunted by bullies. I so wanted her to get back at them. She has her way of doing so but not as I expected. She has a heart of gold. After Kelly receives her new powers the old bullies are of no consequence. The new bullies are actually surprising and are more of a challenge to Kelly. She also has her own Kryptonite which is used against her in such a hilarious fashion. I laughed a lot at the twists in this book. There are many times the story seemed like is was about to turn very dark but at the last moment pulled out of that and became more light hearted. There are comic book style characters that I found enjoyable and added flavor to the story line. The narrator was excellent. She was very expressive and I hope in the future books she is also the narrator. So I give this book a ten thumbs up and recommend it if you want lots of laughs. Can't wait for book number two!

Historia
In the wake of a 20-year war, the people of Lucernia struggle to believe their former enemies aren’t demon-loving savages. However, that’s easy compared to the more alarming change: accepting their nation now has two queens. Many citizens in a land devoted to the God of Purity view the love between Kitlyn and Oona as unnatural, but the young women have earned guarded acceptance in the wake of their heroic deeds. Alas, unrest stirs in the shadows. Worse, Oona thinks the Talomir family line is cursed. All who have worn the crown before her have met with untimely deaths.

Long and meaty Plot
Revisado: 08-19-19
The story line picked up right where the last book ended which I really appreciated. Kit and Oona grow as individuals and as a couple. There are those that have difficulty accepting them. The one most troubling comes from within the Castle grounds and is a thorn in their sides to say the least. They finally explore on their own to find out what is causing unusual deaths from some unexpected creatures that are not well known. Kit and Oona learn more about their counter parts on the other side and find they are not so different from themselves. Oona learns more about her Mother and it's not a pleasant experience. Oona and Kit also learn more about their abilities and I enjoyed how that unfolded throughout the story. Overall this was a well written story and very enjoyable. I really liked the magical aspects and I am glad to see the two characters grow as people and finally get away from the Castle for a great majority of the book. I hope to see more magical experiences in future books because there is so much more mystery out there for Kit and Oona yet to be discovered. Great job again Matthew!

Princess Oona Talomir enjoys the little things that come with her station: a handmaiden, her lavish bedchamber, and scores of fancy dresses - the duty to win a decades-long war, not so much. Oh, did I mention assassins? Seers foretold the conflict would end by her hand. From the moment she drew her first breath, the neighboring kingdom has been trying to kill her so she could not grow powerful enough to destroy them. The burden of her crown becomes too much to bear, yet one thing lifts her spirits amid the gloom. Her servant girl, Kitlyn. Alas, in a kingdom obsessed with the god of purity, she is terrified to confess her forbidden love.

Interesting Plot Twist
Revisado: 08-05-19
Looking over the reviews I see the mixed feelings. I noticed an Amazon reviewer mention how she felt about a male writer and his take on how women act. I wonder if this person really got far into the story because the main female characters of this story are not quite women but 16 year old girls. One of which was a very sheltered girl yet to really know much of the outside world. They would be Ms. Oona the Princess and Ms. Kitlyn who was a friend and servant who showed up at the castle one day at the age of 3. Oona was practically raised inside the Castle not knowing much about the world and only that of which she was told was happening to the people. So many things that has happened are hard to believe but then again why lie because it is against their most revered God to do such a thing. The servant girl Kitlyn that has been close to her side growing up and she could not imagine living in the world without her friend. She learns what that really means as the story evolves. The story revolves a lot around the evolution of their relationship. I did like the plot twist that unfolds in how the girls learn more about themselves but of course that is something I can't give away here. I was saddened about some things also. So there are ups and downs in this book including magic and intrigue. I am interested to see where the story goes in regards to what is going to happen to some characters and what is going to happen between the kingdoms that had been at war for a good part of 20 years. Now I am on to that next adventure.

Enigmatic, Humorous, Enjoyable
Revisado: 07-27-19
If you have a history with playing D&D games male and female alike you may find this to be a delightful read. I absolutely enjoyed this book. The main character is a young boy in his teens that happens across a book at a yard sale that is old school to say the least. He has never played a sit down campaign before and decides to gather his friends around to try the game. One extra tag along is a friend's younger sister of 9. She seems to have some smarts of her own when it comes to learning about her own character and about the game. Keith, the main character, learns the book once belonged to a girl around 14 who disappeared in the early 80s. Her grandmother had sold him the book. He sees her notes in the book and starts to have a link with this girl in many more ways than reading her notes. He hears noises in his closet and begins to see things in there too! His friends reluctantly decide to play the game with him and they realize it is fun. Keith becomes obsessed with what happened to the girl who once owned the book and how the game is played. He becomes convinced that this young girl could be still alive. The kids end up in the book somehow. Keith does meet the previous owner. The love and protective nature Keith feels for this girl is so precious. I can say the banter between the children and the writer's humor will keep you laughing throughout. It is a worthwhile read and money well spent. It's most definitely an audible that I will listen too again and probably again. The narrator did an excellent job. Well done!!!

Intense, Creeptastic and Spooktacular
Revisado: 07-16-19
This is one of those books I would recommend for an October read. It is an intense story filled with deep emotion. A group of girls perform a ritual with their own personal desires to be fulfilled. All but one were unaware of the consequences. The tragedies that unfolded afterwards were also very unexpected. It was almost like a wishmaster experience for them. The main character, Paige, had real visions which helped curtail some of the things that would have befallen the girls but this only made things worse. However, Paige had managed to save some people she knew but not all from certain death. I must say that this is a heavy story but entertaining. If you like mysterious, mystical and creepy in your stories this is a good fit.

Revisado: 07-13-19
If you enjoy the magical and the mystical this is a great book for you. I enjoy stories like this. I would put it alongside series such as the Levin Thumps and Fable Haven. Although this is just the first book, I expect more. It was an absolute joy to listen to with activities and it was hard to stop listening to. Matthew did a great job with not deviating from the lore of the magical creatures and their traits. I can't wait for the next book. If you are looking for an innocent read with magic and mystery this won't let you down. I highly recommend this book. Ten thumbs up. Great job!!

Historia
Sarah Wright knows she’s in for a rough week when a ghost asking for help is the least frightening thing with which she has to deal. A month after waking up as a vampire, unlife is feeling pretty sweet. Her mood swings are easing off, she’s got a decent boyfriend, and best of all, the parents let her slide on being lazy. They understand it’s a little awkward to keep a job when daylight can kill her. Oh, and the whole magical powers thing is pretty cool, too. But after two weeks of quiet, her new normal blooms into a chaotic mess.

Sarah comes into her own.
Revisado: 06-29-19
First off I would like to say that the Narrator Lillie did an excellent job. This story surrounds Sarah helping an unexpected apparition that won't leave her alone. This has unintended consequences that follows not only her but many she loves. Thankfully Sarah makes a wonderful network of friends which ends up being a bulwark necessary to besting a nemesis hellbent on destroying everything dear to her just for being a helpful person/vampire. She also helps a friend retrieve a doll with a surprising past and has an odd attachment to her family. Well it's not so odd after Sarah finds out why. I am surprised by how fearless Sarah is in this story considering she is an innocent and such a newbie to the world of vampirism. She still has so much to learn. However, love can make us stronger than we realize and that is the case for Sarah. This was a wonderfully crafted storyline and Matthew, as always, did a wonderful job. I look forward to the next book in the series. I know it will be a delight like this and the previous.

Fun twist on Vampire lore.
Revisado: 06-22-19
The main character Sarah has unfortunate fate brought upon her by her crap boyfriend. I found it interesting that her character went back to her family and how they discovered what she had become. Did they embrace her or reject her? Guess you need to listen to find out. I really liked the writer's twist on how she feeds and her experiences with it. Why kill your food? The way it tastes to her was comical in a way yet genius. Who made her? Why did this happen? She does meet him. He is a loner of a sorts. There are others and they are very much different than herself. Her abilities would seem plain but they have their place in the vampire world. She still has much to learn. She seems to learn just a taste of her new abilities in book one. I found this book to be enjoyable. The Narrator did a fantastic job. I look forward to hearing more about Sarah in the next book. I highly recommend this series.
