Historia
Thomas Cromwell may have been known as the powerful and ambitious henchman for King Henry VIII, but the woman he installed in the king's court may have had the biggest impact on England's history.... Katherine Ashley was just the daughter of a poor country beekeeper, no matter how clever and beguiling she was. But when she catches the eye of Thomas Cromwell, King Henry VIII's chief minister, she finds her fortune suddenly, drastically changing. Cromwell secures Katherine a place in the king's court as the governess to and protector of Anne Boleyn's only child, Elizabeth.

Great story; bad narrator.
Revisado: 12-26-24
I was very happy to finally find a book about Kat Ashly, Queen Elizabeth I’s governess. However, even though the story was great, I had to struggle to finish this book because the narration was poor, even awful in some places.

Historia
Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.

Difficult to Listen To
Revisado: 11-09-18
I must confess that I have not yet finished this book; in fact I am about half way through. However, I felt compelled to offer my opinion at this time. I would caution anyone who purchases this book that it is not easy to listen to. The narrator does nothing for the story and may end up ruining it for the listener. I find her to be lackluster, monotone and very amateurish, constantly mispronouncing some words and over emphasizing letters in other words. The editing of the narration is poor. It is obvious that the narrator had to constantly go back and insert missed wording. I found this to be very distracting. The story is decent and I hope to be able to finish listening to it. This book was voted on by my Book Club, so I am committed to finishing it. If it weren't for that, I would have exchanged it by now. I would strongly recommend that anyone contemplating purchasing this book to read it and not listen to it. This narrator does this book a great disservice.

The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels
Revisado: 09-18-18
I've just finished The Kingmaker's Daughter, one of 15 books in Phillippa Gregory's series revolving the Wars of he Roses and the Houses of York and Lancaster. Her books flow one into the other, offering the same events from different points of view. This is a wonderful series of books and I intend to download and listen to them all. I highly recommend them.
