Historia
The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it’s kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine’s aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born.

drawn-out, formulaic. corny and hard to get into.
Revisado: 03-26-21
the villain in this story is of course a hypocritical Christian. we are subtly made to believe that this is how all Christians are. Shotgun toting pick up driving tobacco spitting idiots who secretly hate women and believe it's okay to abuse them while not really having any actual convictions. I am a little burnt out by that narrative being added to nearly every story being published today.
the worst part though is that her storytelling, her story, and her characters were all so hard to love. It felt like cliche formulaic writing that rarely gripped me any of the torturous moments i sat there enduring it. The only reason I finished the book was because I started it while I was repairing my car and too many times my hands had oil on them and I couldn't touch my phone. I felt committed by the time I got halfway.
I was not satisfied by how it ended. Normally if I just press through the dull parts of a book I end up being glad I did. not this time. I'm pretty sure I will never pick up another Nora Roberts book again. Pure hogwash. Sorry to you true devoted fans.

Historia
Stoicism interests those who fail to find meaning in the futile norms and customs enforced by different faiths. It is meant for deep thinkers who wish to understand life rationally. It allows you to delve into the depths of logic and reasoning and analyze everything in an impartial manner. Stoicism has been shown to have great results in those who study it and apply it. An overwhelming number of people, young and old, have attested to making better students, better partners, and better workers. The timeless, modern value of Stoic principles is irrefutable.

Probably the best book on Stoicism I've read.
Revisado: 06-24-20
I was taking a chance buying this, because it didn't have many reviews. But, I was actually blown away by the depth of this 3 hour audiobook. It did a great job painting a picture of some of the Stoic legends, their hearts, and their words. I have already recommended this to a few other people. I know there is a lot of crap out there on Audible... trust me, I've been burned once or twice, but this one does not deserve to be listed alongside them. It is a few major steps above. Probably the best book on Stoicism I've read, and everything about it was high quality.

Historia
These days, our peace of mind is more at risk than ever. Between the joblessness, political tensions, economic instability, and the overwhelming number of growing concerns in our world, there is no shortage of things to be upset by. While many of the problems we face are indeed large, a lot of them aren't as big as we think. We often magnify our problems and even create new problems when we become irrational. Almost more important than any problem we face is our method(s) for dealing with it. Our perspective of it and our ability to stay anchored while facing it.

Historia
Many of us wish we were better at making connections, keeping connections, or improving the connections we already have. We wish we were better at networking or making good first impressions. Or, we may simply wish we had stronger bonds with the people we know - our friends and family members, who we often feel strangely distant to. All of these situations can be improved upon. This book talks about how that is done, regardless of where you currently stand or what you hope to accomplish.

Very real style (and not too cookie cutter)
Revisado: 05-16-20
I am pleasantly surprised by this audiobook I somewhat randomly stumbled upon after reading one of Kruse's other books, and I feel compelled to share a few words.
First off, the narrator did a fantastic job. Trust me... not all narrators do. This guy spoke the books message very well in my opinion.
Secondly, the book resonated with me on a number of levels. The author gives examples from his life about friendship, and talks about feelings of rejection and resparking old friendships, and it was a timely message for me.
I have dealt with a lot of frustrations these past few years myself and have not known what to make of friendships that seem to have grown cold. This book truly, truly brought me to a better place about that, and also gave me some EXCELLENT perspective about what I can do in my situation.
Plus, it gave me a ton of encouraging tips about connecting with people in general (which I will continue to use everyday).
If you like authors like John C. Maxwell, I feel very confident saying that you will LOVE this book and most likely re-listen to it a few times. It is a very real style and not too cookie-cutter. Great listen. Five stars!

Procrastination.... Why do we do it? Why do we so often think that tomorrow works better, when it rarely ever does? Science has shown us that procrastination causes us to feel stressed and depressed. It causes us to give poor performance and miss precious opportunities. It ensures that the negative emotions we’re feeling today will carry into tomorrow. And yet, it always sounds tempting to delay our responsibilities in the moment.

Got into this pretty quickly as I have spent the past month telling myself I wanted to learn better time management. no... thats not a pun, but it sure would make a good one. anyway, my wife agrees that this books ideas were pretty firm. (she listened to most of it with me) and we're excited to try some of these ideas out.
