Historia
Charles Bingley, a wealthy young gentleman, has moved into Netherfield Park manor, which causes much excitement in the village of Longbourn, especially among the five unmarried daughters of the Bennet household. Despite many romatic complications, the overall tone of this classic novel is, as Jane Austen described it, “light and bright, and sparkling”.

Disappointing bodice ripper
Revisado: 04-16-12
What would have made Pride and Prejudice better?
The voice of the narrator is awful. This was a cheap version, so hence I bought it. Just not worth the money. Ditched it after three chapters.
What did you like best about this story?
The story is brilliant but the reading is awful.
How could the performance have been better?
Change the narrator

What was "The Gunpowder Plot" all about?
Revisado: 01-17-12
What disappointed you about The Gunpowder Plot?
A long winded and in places confusingly told, story of a foiled attempt to blow-up Parliament House in London in 16 ?? Already forgotten the date.
What was most disappointing about Antonia Fraser’s story?
Just far to much detail ploddingly read and totally unable to engage me.
Would you be willing to try another one of Robert Powell’s performances?
Possibly
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Yes, I found out, finally after listening to the story twice, about the Gun Powder Plot.
Any additional comments?
This book is not a patch on later books by Antonia Fraser, and to be fair, was written years before the more recent ones that I have listened to and thoroughly enjoyed. Maybe Ms Fraser received some advice from an editor over the tears.

Get inside Stalin's head with this story
Revisado: 01-17-12
If you could sum up Young Stalin in three words, what would they be?
Mesmerising, engrossing and thrilling
What did you like best about this story?
The degree of details available though Stalin's personal letters and/or the records from close associates and the police and secret service.
Have you listened to any of Sean Barrett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. Not bad got to like his voice eventually.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
What made Stalin the murderer he became
Any additional comments?
An essential novel for anyone interested in the what and why of the Soviet system. A book that must be listen to before the other book of Simon Sebag Monetfiore, the Court of the Red Czar - also an excellent book.

Something to listen to whilst weeding the garden
Revisado: 12-20-11
Would you try another book from Mary Wesley and/or Anna Massey?
I bought this book because I love listening to Anna Massey read. The story was a dreary English tale that started nowhere and went nowhere. Just interesting enough to keep listening and take one's mind off menial tasks such as weeding the garden. No more books from Mary Wesley.
What was most disappointing about Mary Wesley’s story?
The lacklustre story. There was no plot development.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator saved the book. I would have dumped the books if it was not read by Anna Massey.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Yes, the voice of Anna Massey.
Any additional comments?
This is a book I bought on the strength of the narrator. Can't expect every book to be a

Brilliant story, excellently read, based on fact.
Revisado: 12-18-11
What did you love best about The Nazi Officer's Wife?
The details of life in Nazi Germany revealed in the story in an engaging way. The writing style took you out of yourself and put you in Edit Hann's shoes.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Edit Hann Beer, her honesty about trying to save herself by disguising as a non-Jew in Nazi Germany whilst knowing that other Jews were being killed in death camps.
Which scene was your favorite?
The scene in which Edit Hann is interviewed by a Nazi officer responsible for Race Relations and he tells her exactly what to do to invent a non-Jewish identity for herself and how to use that identity to survive the war and what to do to avoid detection.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, without doubt.
Any additional comments?
More stuff like this please. Beautifully read by Barbara Rosenblat and written in a way that made you feel that you were there with Edit in the room, experiencing her joys and disasters.
